Why don't you purchase online? Most major online shops ship to Canada (I think).

i live in toronto too, etobicoke to be exact. and you are willing to shell out 1 grand for this card. not worth it, just get a 7800gt or gtx. www.pccanada.com, that store is in etobicoke toronto, i buy all my stuff from there, its the cheapest computer store in toronto. and the price of on 512 meg 7800gtx is 1084.99 cents canadian. its not worth it, dont blow your money a video card costing 1 grand, im telling you dont do it. you will regret it 6 months latter when a new card comes out from nvidia, or when the playstation 3 comes out. and the playstation 3 will be less than 1000, and its a full console. i swear dont do it, throwing away money like nothing. i would just get a 7800gt from that site for 460 canadian. or just get a gtx, even that is way to much of a rip off anywhere in canada (600+). wtf 600 and 1000 for the gtx 256 and gtx 512, biggest rip off ever

these 7800gtx 512 meg dont even support direct x 10, windows vista will be out next year with direct x 10 or a new version of it. paying 1000 grand for a card that doesnt support direct x 10 is dumb, did you see the far cry 2 video, the new crytech engine fully supported direct x 10. just go to www.gamershell.com, the video is there somewhere.

I'm not planning to pay 1,000+!!! Infonec.com has it for 799.00cdn but no ETA. I've had my order there for over a week.

ameek - stfu, let the man buy what he wants. Did you just join NVnews to tell people what to buy?

XWL - Try the main carriers in the GTA: www.canadacomputers.com etc. NCIX.com should have them shortly. There's a small place in London (about 2 hours away that can get the GTX 512s pretty fast ONLY by request www.cryocooling.com). Also try www.extremepc.ca in Kitchener. FYI, the eVGA store ships to Canada when they get theirs in. I'll PM you if I find anyone with it in stock as of right now, don't place your order with anybody until they have it in stock. Good luck.

I'm down the highway from u xwl. I went to order mine at Bytewize but they were mistaken by the supplier. Looks like the for sure place is Ncix but unfortunately I don't know where else in Canada. Good luck, I hope u find one

btw I ordered my DFI Expert at Bytewize and that doesn't seem to be any problems. Ncix carries that board also. I believe both places don't have back orders on them.

Vista is coming out in around a year, where did you get 6 months from?

i said 6 to 12 months a new video card will be out, some where in between there. direct x 10 one year, but thats still not that long and wasting 799 on a card is the biggest rip off ever. it should come with a full computer. i dont feel like arguing right now just do whatever you want and believe whatever you want, god loves you.

No you didn't. Re-read your post. You said DirectX 10 (which is shipping with Vista) and a new card.

First of all it will be called WGF (I can't remember if it's 1.0 or 2.0 that will be launched with Vista) so stop naming the rendering engine for Microsoft. Secondly, this is an enthusiast forum, everyone has high-end hardware specifically engineered for gaming/overclocking/record breaking, it's a hobby for a lot of us here. Stop trying to ruin everyone's threads with your blatant price taggery because a lot of people have bought GTX 512mb cards for that price on this board and love them.

Why do people buy Porsche 911s and BMW M6s when a Ford Focus will do the same job, because they can and they want the best performance available, this is no difference. If you want a $799 on-board graphics Dell with an Intel P4 CPU, by all means do so, this isn't the place for you then.

If you consider the fact that there will ALWAYS be new hardware coming every 6 to 8 months, you will never be able to buy a computer. Stuff changes, that's life. My FX-55 which I paid over a $1000 for at the time is now just a pretty "normal" processor, oh well, you can't expect things to hold their value for years in the computer industry.

EDIT: We have people on this board that would ditch their Toyota Corolla for an X2 4400+ which shows you're not dealing with Average Joe and Sally who use their computers for the occasional MSN and MS Word.

End Rant. :afro:

I thought MS dropped the WGF name altogether.

Vista is +1 year away. Also the 7800GTX/512 is a very nice card.

okay fine i was wrong you all were right but 7800gtx 512 for 799 is still a rip off. not unless it stays top of the line for 3 years at least. even then its still a rip off a little bit. 799 for a card only to be old in 1 years time is a rip off and it will stay top of the line for 1 year only that i can guarentee (cant spell that word). whatever you rich people have money to throw around do whatever you want. I guess im not that rich to throw away a grand just on a video card, unlike some of you.

It's all a matter of what gives a person satisfaction.

Is $800 USD to much to pay for a video card, maybe, but I think that $30,000 is too much to pay for a car.

I've ordered two of these babies @ $750 a piece because I want to play my current crop of games at maxium detail at 1600x1200. Playing games with max detail at high resolutions gives me more statisfaction than fancy new car, so I spend less than average on my cars, and more than average on my video cards.

Maybe its crazy, but how we send our money is a very personal and indvidual thing.

To those who have the extra cash, it's worth it. To those who don't it's a rip off.

It's all relative.

It's all being covered in company costs. So all cool :beer3:
