DETROIT (Reuters) - The Detroit auto show has seen a lot of concept cars over the decades, but a four-wheel motorcycle powered by a 500-horsepower V-10 engine is a first.
And it may turn out to be more than a concept.
DaimlerChrysler AG's DCX.N DCXGn.DE Chrysler arm on Monday unveiled the Dodge Tomahawk -- essentially the 8.3 liter engine from a Dodge Viper mated to a motorcycle frame. Chrysler executives said while the chrome-draped Tomahawk was outlandish, they were seriously considering whether to build a few hundred at a price of at least $250,000 each.
"This is for people who are passionate about engines," said Chrysler Chief Operating Officer Wolfgang Bernhard, who rode the Tomahawk on stage during a media preview. "A motorcycle is the most beautiful way to showcase an engine."
The 1,500-pound Tomahawk can reach 60 miles an hour in about 2.5 seconds, and has a theoretical top speed of 300 mph. Each pair of wheels is separated by a few inches and each wheel has an independent suspension. Bernhard said four wheels were necessary to handle the power from the engine.
Chrysler executives said if the Tomahawk were put into production, it would draw attention to the Dodge brand in ways no ordinary sports car could. Bernhard said a decision on whether to build the Tomahawk could be made in several months.
:D
Yeah but if you have four wheels on a motor bike you want be able to dip into the corners without tipping over. That has to be one of the best feelings you get from riding a bike which you do not get from riding a 4 wheeled vehicle.
It looks very nice and stylish, with the chrome etc. But it basically is a much more pretty version of the drag bike (same as drag cars except they are bikes:rolleyes: ). The four wheel thing should have been replaced by one fat tyre instead. Fat tyres look nice...:D

All four wheels have an independent suspension. Therefore, as you lean into a turn, all four wheels stay on the ground. There isn't any "tipping" going on at all. Pretty sound engineering there... more contact than one wide tire, though it is pretty complicated and looks a bit gangly.

It's pretty but not worth close to 250,000. I wish I could track down the spokeless concept bike I saw about 8 or so years ago.

Did it use some sort of mag-lev technology?

speaking about Terminator 3, you know how in all the previous Terminator movies the terminator arrives nacked... yeah... uhm... does any one know if she comes pre attired in that red leather outfit or does she come nacked too....:D  :afro2:
She can change her appearance to anything she wants, so she can just change her shape to one that is wearing clothes. I think she it made up of nanobots or something. At one point in the movie she turns to into a mist.
