right now i have the 420 w aspire psu, and with just my hds running motherboar watercooling lcd, my lcd spits out the "low" error, it worked fine but then i moved to a 6800so thats what the killer is I think

ok first, if a psu is rates for 1000W, will it constantly draw 1000w? no matter whats hooked up

and im looking for a small form factor and 6+ molex plugs, ill be running 4 sata drives, my new x2 800, pump, 3lcds, 3 fans, 4 1 ft lights, now i did a calculator on line and my 420 should be enought but i still get that msg

so can you guys recommend some great psus? I dont want to spend a lot on stuff i dont need like glowing and stuff

*points to sig*

OCZ Powerstreams are nice too, though they are larger than most PSUs.

The power supply will only produce as much power as needed @ the time. IOW it won't constantly push 1000 watts even if it's rated for that. Only if the devices in the machine draw that much current will it produce that.

Your system draws a lot of power so whatever you do I would make sure to get one that puts out at least 30amps +12v.

Good brands to stick with are PC Power/Cooling, Enermax, OCZ, and Antec.

500+ Watt , if you want to get anything that will definately last you 2 years without problems . If money is not an issue the PC Power and Cooling 510 Watt SLI PSU and OCZ PowerStream 520Watt are the best performers .

looking at the lable on the psu how can i tell which will have a good power per line because ill have a lot on each molex so i need something that will support 4 hs 4 lights 2 molex for the 6800 enogh rail for my 3800 when i OC it and oh watercooling and 2 or 4 fans and 3 lcds, so ill try to spread the device out equally on the molexes but there are so many out there that are cheap and high wattage so im looking on the cheap, i think im going to strip the pse and build a new plexiglass case smaller than my aspire cube so the size of the psu wont matter 2 much, ill make room

see, i was worried about this PSU also. so i have been beating her up pretty good and she's holding her own. hell, if there was one problem per month.. i would take it over that MGE PSU i had before:)

This would be the kind of unit you'd need, a powerful 12v rail. A quad 12v rail would be even better since you will be running lights, but they do come at a price.
