Im running a raid 0 and im looking for a backup utility that will back up the info on the disk only, so its 160gb disk but if using 30gig or so it only makes a 30 gb backup not the full 160
so its to back up windows and if there was an option to exclude files like games then that would be great
anyone know of software with these features?

Nero, Ghost, Windows Backup/Restore (ntbackup.exe).

go nt backup go!, now how would i recover it from doss, or xp cd?
and does this have any problems? i mean it is a microsoft product :) + can you boot to windows after a restore on fresh formatted drive?
Yeah just use ntbackup to backup data to an external hard drive. Don't ever rely on RAID 0 array for important stuff, as it is (multiply # of drives) times as likely to fail.

it wont let me boot off of it for some reason, i did restore on another formatted drive to test it??
I think I may have misunderstood what you are trying to do here. Are you trying to clone the entire system partition?
I'm not so sure that ntbackup.exe has the ability to clone entire partitions.

If you want to clone a partition, you could try Acronis TrueImage 9. That's my solid pick.
TierMann mentioned Norton Ghost earlier. I believe that can clone partitions too. I have a tool called Paragon Hard Disk Manager, and although it appears to clone partitions, I have not tried it as of yet.
Or if you're looking for something entirely free check out a Live Unix/Linux distro and use rsync.

ok i want to move my raid xp >another HD, then format the raid to 8k clusters from windows xp on the other HD> then copy it back to my partiton
I just cant get ntbackup to boot, is it because i need xp on the drive(not the array) then have to do a restore after that? i should just detect it as a bootable drive right
The easiest way is probably by cloning the boot partition (Windows XP) to another hard disk and boot from that. Then you should be able to reformat your other disks that are in the RAID array.

Thats because ntbackup doesn't back up the boot sector. If you have restored the Windows files to another disk you will need to replace the boot sector manually. I posted a howto do this in your other thread.
