Question about RAM

What will give me a better performance ?

1 gig of PC3200 RAM or 1.5 gig of PC2700 RAM ?

If i ask this it's because i have a socket 754 board and it downclock RAM speed to PC2700 if i use 3 sticks.

2 sticks of 512MB or 2 sticks of 1GB PC3200. I say that because I tried 3 sticks of PC3200 (1.5GB) on a DFI 754 board I had and my performance noticeably decreased. But I was over-clocking.
