View Full Version : Video files too big
I have quite a few avi files of a series on my computer and there taking up a lot of space. Some of the files are 100 meg and some are 200+ meg. And it looks just fine at 100 meg. so I was wondering if there is a program (perferably freware)to reduce the size of the file by reducing its quaulity. I hope this makes some sence.
Thx

VirtualDub is a good alternative.

You may need some codecs too, like DivX or XDIV

you're going to have to re-encode them. so it might not be worth it time-wise or effort-wise.
i would just burn them to cd when you start running out of harddrive space. if you look around you can find cdr 50pks or even 100pks for free after rebate, or for around $5-10.
:D ROFL
Does 80gb sound good enough. Once space starts running out i usually burn all the stuff onto DVD's. No way i am having 400+ cd's. Currently i have 46 something DVD's filled with games, mp3, apps and movies ;)
No longer have time to collect em no more though:(

Thats a good idea cause I'm in that boat right now, stuck with dozens of cdrs full of divx. I've just been so weary of buying a dvd-writer for a while because of the ever changing dvd writable formats. Every time I look up there's something better
