I found these links and I thought you guys should all know about it! Good news there is one last high end from Nvidia and i think its going to be a 7900U? Read this...

NVIDIA CFO Marv Burkett and VP Michael Hara at CSFB Annual Technology Conference 2005 revealed more about the GeForce 7 series where the 90nm G72 (GeForce 7200) and G73 (GeForce 7600) will be announced in Q1 next year. G72 will be 64-bit and support TurboCache technology. Marv Burkett revealed that GeForce 7200 and 7600 series will last between one to one and half year. G71 will be 90nm and is expected to be much higher clocked at 750MHz. As for G80, the development process has been smooth and is slated for mid 2006 release which i suppose during Computex 2006. Also G80 will support Shader Model 4.0.

This card could look like this in April 2006?

Nvidia GeForce 7900 Ultra @750MHz / 1.9GHz 256-bit 512MB GDDR 3 SDRAM 1ns (Samsung K4J52324QC-BJ10) 1000MHz

Wow...64-bit for the 7200? Why do they keep killing their low end like that?

That market is not targeted at 3d gamers so it should be fast enought for anything else.

Then why even bother with it? Just keep pushing the 6200.

Many companies do that. People think it's better because it has a new model number so they buy a new card. Kind of like cars. Believe it or not many people fall for that.

yeah from the G72 core shots I have seen, it is one very small chip, even looks tinier then the NV44 did.

Hopefully they will not price it above the current 7800 512MB version which is at $700 now. Let's hope they shift the prices down to make room for this card.

id perfer they focus on core design rather then ramping up the clock speeds (but its just a g70 tweaked to a lower proccess again, so whatever ^_^)

I fail to see the need for a 90nm G70 with G80 coming in the Summer timeframe.

Damn!
Wonder what kind of cooling solution this card will have!

Who wants to buy a "cheap" 512MB GTX next summer??

Well Nvidia needs to fill the hole in there time line so ATI can't get in and take Nvidia's #1 GPU! away from them, the G71 is nivdia's last high end GeForce 7 till there G80 witch is the GeForce 8. So if G71 is out by April say and that makes the G80 time line around July or maybe later? it gives them time for MS to get there new OS & DX-10 ready for the market.

now I wonder if the G71 is a 24-pipe or 28-pipe if the G80 is a 32-pipe hmm...? all we know is thats its a spring refresh of the GF7 GTX 512 (G70) and runs at 750MHz made on 90nm.

R580 maybe? The more cards on the market, the greater the chance that price will drop on some "older" cards.

By the time R580 becomes available it will be time for G80.(xmasgrin)

lol I´m sure Nvidia would love that, but I have a feeling the R580 might not take that long. A paperlaunch in January and availability in March should be possible and why should Nvidia give ATI the advantage if they can counter it. I wouldn´t be surprised if they want to slowly move (their complete product line) from the 110nm process to 90nm for more cores per waffer and bascially reduce costs this way.

I also think the 7800GTX/512 will never go into true mass production and thats another reason why Nvidia should have another high-end animal available within the next quater and it would be in Nvidias interest to have good yields or at least comparable with the R580XT.

Due to the decrease in PC gaming, I believe the card manufactures need to be careful with their roadmaps and be as cost effective as possible because I wouldn´t be surprised if less units are sold than for instance 2 years ago.

Anyway, thats my 2 cents. :)

Probably has more to do with vacating the fab the the G70 is on now for other projects. You might as well move the core to the new process. 6800GS, anyone?

I figure around fall, sept or oct. Closer to the vista launch.

IMO there is no reason to delay G80 to make a launch close to Vista.Radeon 9700pro launched several months before DX9 but kicked serious ass.If the card is fast in DX9 and has nice new features people will buy it regardless of the DX10 launch.
