I tried today driver 78.03 with the game and no single stutter, all max exept shadows on medium 1024x768 4xAA 8xAF, I tried 81.87/81.94/81.95 and they have stutters with the game. I am using 6800NU stock 128MB

everyone try 78.03 with nfsmw and tell if his stutters gone.

Unfortunately, would be no good for me because I use SLI and play games like FEAR and Q4.

I'll try it with the 78.05 drivers later tonight.

IT works quite well for m on 81.95's. I get the occational stuttering but i am 99.999% sure that it is caused by my ancient FF wheel.

I tried NFMW with the 78.05...no stutter at all but the fram rate sometimes takes a diver from time to time.
Also car shadow is not right.

Stuttering issues normally means the driver is faster, but with more variability in frames per second. Enable vsync and triple buffer and that should help.

I get slight pauses now and then but it seems it's possibly related to the music ingame. Got a feeling it just needs patching.

is this a dual core problem only? - I dont have any issues with stuttering on my rig - FW 81.97 1024x768 4XAA max in game settings.

Don't think it's stuttering as such, well ...not for me anyways, just the odd pause here and there. Think it might be my OEM soundcard causing it (crap drivers and Creative mainstream ones don't work) , got new one on order.

A New patch is out, well not sure it's so new ....v1.3 !!

I installed dxtweaker last night and gave NFS a whirl, and it did seem much smoother. There's still less frequent hitches; in certain races it stutters slightly at the same place, and just before a new audio track is loaded, or comm chatter from the cops.

I didn't think to run Fraps. Running 1280x960, 4xAA, 8xAF, triple buffering (woot!), vsynch on, also have the AMD dual core driver, MS dual core hotfix, and affinity set to both cores.

No, I get it myself with the 81.95 drivers and I have the same CPU as you. It pretty much goes away with FW 78.05. You're running drivers though that we don't have. Perhaps they contain a fix for this issue.

yeh maybe its the drivers - although if it happens when audio events kick in it sounds like a codec issue to me - have you guys looked at your codec priority for any issues (windows media audio should be priority 1)

just out of curiousity how many of you guys have nero installed?

EDIT: - Also are all you guys running the full game or the demo or does it happen with both versions....?

just trying to pin this down before logging a bug report if that is indeed were the issue lies (which I doubt at present).

so is anyone still having this issue or have you all sorted it out now....?

Why do you ask about nero being installed ?

Superfly

nero installs an Audio file which can under very rare circumstances can cause audio codec problems with Windows.

A recent example of this is Audio stuttering in X3 caused by incorrect codec proiorites and the presence of this file.

OK well I take it this is a non issue now then, I'll leave it be.

didn't know that, thanks

The game has a slight pause / stutter, usually occurs during the change of music and events ingame, I get it sometimes mid race for no particular reason too, not sure what causes it, but to answer your question ...I do have Nero installed, but if I recall it did the same thing beforehand.
Not sure whether this is actually driver related or just the game itself.

Also, what apps can you use to check codec priority?

Superfly
12-09-05, 12:40 PM
you can check and change your Codec's by going into Sound & Audio devices in Control Panel and then selecting the hardware tab - then select Audio Codec's and click on preferences below - from this screen you can alter the priority's

Windows Media Audio should really be top

I very much doubt this is a driver issue for NVIDIA.
