Hey I just picked up a new drive and I want to copy the image off my 80gb of clean brand new install of XP over to my new 160gb. I did this using data lifegaurd that comes with WD. It gave me a message saying it couldn't copy some files. When I boot to the new image on the 160 it boots in to the windows logo screen and just hangs.

Any thoughts or help would be great, thanks guys.

You can either try running a repair from the windows cd, or if the WD disk is bootable it's usually better to do the copy from there than from windows (files getting locked up etc).

Norton ghost is the best way to copy one drive to another.

Check it out if you can.

What brand is the new drive?? If its a WD then the WD utility works well. If its not the each make of drive has its own program. Seagate have a very nice app that runs over the net that can copy across all data to make a new drive bootable. Maxtor also has a set of apps.

Starscream is right about Norton Ghost. Its the best.
