what do you think of doom III? seriosly, would it really be as good if it had nothing to do with doom III?

to tell you the truth, i don't really like the gameplay...or is it just that its chunky each time i FIRE MY GUN!!! oh ah, not that i've played it before...im just..ah, guessing...

the 3d looking is gonna be awesome
the in game atmosphere also

but the scenario seems to suck :/ :

oh you are in mars and all the human are transfomed in zombies and monsters .... so original .. so what ? pan pan , boom boom, pan pan ?

did u say gordon freeman ? ;) I think Half life was a very immersive game because of this scenario and the way it was presented to you : the first arrival scene, the mysterious business man with the case

i'm fu%$# bored of the last FPS games, i do not want those passive cinematic scenes (real time or not)

even RTCW is great for the richness of the environment (the telepheric scene , the secret base in sweden, the plane base, etc ) but always the same problem : Not enough interaction during the gameplay, i want that the ennemies (or allies :D) react, speak or whatever differently in accordance to my behavior.
Also i don't like when all the differents scenes seems to be glue one by one

so i'm expecting that ID do something in this area, ID has always be the masters of programation, but i hope this time they are gonna improve their scenarists skills ...

ID please give up this Nazis obsession and paganism style monsters: it becomes boring ...

(sorry for the junk english)

I'm sure the game will be great in regards to gameplay, graphics, sound, etc. I'm not so sure about sales though. I know many, many people still trying to get UT to play smooth with eye candy cranked on thier PIII 500 with voodoo 3 type cards. Alot of folks either A) Can't afford to upgrade everytime a new game or piece of hardware comes out, or B) Won't feel it's neccesary to upgrade just because of one game. You can't make people buy the biggest and best gear out there and playing at 640x480 with all the bells and whisles turned off just isn't fun.

I think Doom3 will be basically a Half-Life with really cutting-edge technology... therefore, I look forward to it. :p

hey! there are people day in the Eastern hemisphere eating dog right now as we speak? isn't it a delicacy in some countries?

actually iD monsters have never had good AI. remember the "realistic" and "great" AI promised for Quake2? and what did we really get? the monsters moved and acted suspiciously like Quake1 baddies, except they had a few new tricks like *gasp* ducking in place.

I think Doom3 will be one of those games when you open it and say "Wow" and then you keep playing till the end just to see all the monsters and levels.
The alpha wanst even demo of the game i think, so lets hope zombies WILL DIE if you shoot em in the head... I'm for cryingout loud every damn movies shows that if ya shoot zombie in that head it'll die :D

Doom3 is just lying steps for a new breed of games(**** I like how I said that... *repeating to myself* :D ).

Unreal II will be superior in gameplay thoand gameplay comes first to most of us. :)

JC said in an interview that Doom3 will have the same AI as Q3A. Why?

BECAUSE THEY'RE ZOMBIES! :p

they're not all zombies. what about the imps? or the pinkys?

i mean honestly, how would a bunch of moronic demons beat highly trained soldiers? i remember Doom1, i took out all of hell's forces myself.

Dude. It's Hell. You don't exactly meet a lot of resistance when everybody there is a disembodied soul that you can affect but it can't affect you. And then how would they kill the soldiers? Uh... because they're demons, and I don't think that the USMC includes demonic phenomena in Basic Training? ;)

I cant wait for it! I'm a bit of a eye-candy *****. Not only are the graphics gonna be amazing, but the sound and music by the fantastic Mr Reznor are also gonna be stunning!

The atmosphere just in the leaked alpha was great. I love mindless fp's. This is gonna be the best yet!

that doesn't explain how you the player, just a normal grunt, would then be able to wipe out all of Hell's forces then, would it :D

serious mode on: one of the great things about Half-Life were the battles between aliens and marines. no more deserted "million of them vs you" bull****. it added a lot of atmosphere to the game IMO. /serious mode off.

yip, those kind of thing really add up for the games atmosphere.

It also kills all replay value the game might offer. Knowing where the scripted enemy points are is extremely annoying the 2nd time through a game. At least when 40 enemies warp in at one time, you will always be at the disadvantage.

the zombies get back up because they're undead.......you can't kill what's not dead or alive...only injure it. Kinda like the Nazgul in the Lord of the Rings.

Then how come the zombies don't get back up after a few kills? :p

Doom3 will look great that is for sure, but Im not sure about the story, as always its pretty thin, heck even old resident evil have more story Im sure.

What Im really looking forward to is games based on the D3 engine. Games based on an already made engine usually turnout better then the original game, perhaps cos the programmer get more time to spend on just story and such and not having to build a game engine from scratch.

We will just have to wait and see :)

Wouldnt count on it, as it's heavily based around Quake3 engine and that was already pretty much streched to it's possibilities in Quake III ;)

Unless there's a game that could actualy take advantage of small/dark levels

my mistake.....I'm still on the Two Towers. By the way, in the Doom III alpha, some of the zombies die from head wounds...others get right back up. Guess we won't know anything until the game ships.
