Practically all current systems will have problems driving games in that thing's native resolution. If it had a different native resolution (say 1920x1200) I might be interested.
Barring games though it'll be an uber screen. Great for HDTV playback and websurfin'.
Oh, and you'll need a dual link card to drive it with as well.

When I win the lotto next year and buy my G80 SLI rig, I'll pick one of these up too (xmasgrin)

the 7 series nvidia cards have the dual link dvi port don't they?
Wonder how the price will compare to the apple display.

Nope. Only the Quadro has the dual link I believe.

The GTX with 256MB has one dual link DVI and the 2nd one is a single link. The GTX/512 has 2 dual link DVI ports.

You sure about that? I swear I read just the opposite.
If that is the case though it's a good thing.

IŽll try to find a page to confirm it. BRB.

Been looking myself. Hell of a time finding it. ;)
No price, but it should hit North America on December 21st, which means youll have to choose between buying Christmas presents for your loved ones or buying yourself one sweet LCD panel.
Right, like I spend that much on my loved ones.(xmastong)
I'm not sure what I would do with this though. It's almost twice as big as my current monitor. I will be watching the price over the next couple of years though. Might just have to pick one of these up eventually. (xmassign) to me.(xmasmile)
Oh yeah, and HDCP blows. If they actually get away with that for next gen movies I'm going to pirate everything (and don't believe for a second that people won't be able to pirate because of HDCP). Or maybe I'll just watch everything at the lower resolution allowed without HDCP. In any case DRM is teh suxx0r.:rw:
Edit: NM, got confused with the comments on the linked page.:o

Says the 256 meg version has one dual-link. No mention of the 512 though (wasn't out yet when the article was written).

I guess I was wrong that the GTX512 has 2 dual link DVIs:
http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/285/2/
But it has 1 dual link and 1 single link DVI, just like the GTX256:

Thanks for clearing that up. Someone was feeding me full of ****.
You might have been thinking of the X1800XT. Apparently it has two dual-link ports.

I wish there was a better way to tell single and dual link apart but it seems that the ports on the video cards, even if they are just single link, do have 24 female pins. The difference between single and dual link seems more obvious when it comes to the cables itself:

It's seems a Samsung panel. Dell gets them first.

So, will all 7800gt and gtx's support this monitor?
My BFG 7800gtx box says that it has:
"Dual DVI-I"

Contrast ratio seems quite different. I wonder why that is ?

Hopefully this means the 2005FPW and 2405FPW come down in prices...you hear anything about ANY of these three monitors' prices, Saz?
Retail prices have not moved and likely will not move before end of quarter. Weekly promotions still on-going though, unfortunately the one on the 2405 ended today.
Btw, what the heck happened to the thread I created on this topic

I just think it got renamed...it's still stickied at the top of the gen. hardware forum...

I believe the consensus was that 7800 GTX's have one dual-link DVI port, so you could run one of these.

Do the 2405FPWs require dual link DVI as well?
