Ok guys, I installed in98 second edition, and installed the drivers. It seems that the drivers loaded ok, but when I play something (audio) nothing comes out at the speakers.

I connected the speakers to a seprate devices (my mp3 player) and confirmed that my speakers are working fine. I have tried plugging the speakers in all possible outlets.

The version of nforce driver installed is 1.16, downloaded from Asus website. Also, before installation, I upgraded BIOS from 1001G to 1002 beta. I went thru all settings in BIOS but could not find anything that could help.

I plugged in a mic in the mic input and started "Sound Recorder". To my amazement, while I was speaking in the mike, I was seeing spikes on the screen, but no audio to speakers. Even during playback of the recording, no audio to speakers, but the display was showing activity.

I also started "nForce Control Panel" but found nothing wrong there also. All in Windows Master Audio control panel seems ok too.

Hardware: AMD 2600, Asus A7N8X deluxe MB: MCP-T / nForce2 chipset, MSI GeForce4 Video, Samsung PC2700 RAM, Maxtor HDD, Samsung CDRW.

Any help in getting audio to work will be really appreciated.

Thanks

Ajay Gautam

Not sure - mine works fine in XP..You might want to try www.nforcershq.com or the asus forums which I find to be very helpful ...(Asus Forums) (http://www.asusnetq.com.tw/stats.asp?ptype=Motherboard)

Thanks for the reply plonk, I have tried win98, win98se, winxp, mandrake linux, Gentoo linux, suse linux, and 3 different sound systems in linux.

However, I have not been able to get sound to work. I think the hardware is broken. I would be taking it to the shop this saturday and try to get it fixed.

Thanks,

Ajay Gautam
