View Full Version : Possible to block advertising tool tips?
I notice that many web sites including this forum now use advertising keywords which spawn a tool tip style pop up. These are becoming increasingly annoying to me. When I mouse over them in an upward direction, the ad window pops up a second later, so as I go to click a real link or item above, the ad window appears and catches the click. Both FireFox and IE behave the same.
So, is there any way to disable these advertisements or the tool tip feature completely?

Use the Firefox extension Adblock:

Thanks for your lighting fast response Clay. I use IE normally because it's there. I tried installing the AdBlock extension, but I've recently upgraded FireFix to v1.5 and the UI for enabling extensions to be installed is missing (as described in this KB article http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_Issues_:_Can't_Install_Themes_or_Extensi ons). For the time being, I've blocked all the known domains with windows host file. This seems to be very effective so far.
