Hey everyone.

I recently upgraded my Motherboard, Processor, and graphics card. I went from intel to AMD! And from ATI to NVIDIA.

I am trying to think of things I can use the computer for or if I should sell it? To tell you the truth its not even an old computer. The thing just needs a little ram and a case!

Intel Perl motherboard 478
Pentium 4 HT 3.0
And ATI 9800 PRO 256mb
Old PSU

What would you guys do if you had some parts left over like that?

What do you guys do with your computer parts after you UPGRADE?

I shoot all my old computers. I shoot them until they are beyond recognition, then, I set fire to them with diesel fuel. This is the truth and this is what I do.

Well, since none of that stuff is compatible with your new system, sell it eBay style! (xmasgrin)

Use it as a backup or sell/loan to a friend I have shot and blown up several pc's but not unless they suck or are just too old

I dont even know how to pack it ... the CPU is still in the motherboard with the heatsink on it ...

and the 9800 Pro 256 is chilling in the 7800 case!

I would be afraid that shipping could damage the motherboard? I sell a lot of things on ebay …

how much do you think I could get for all of that stuff?

I was thinking of doing a HTPC.. sence i use Media center now with my new cpu

The old system would make a great htpc if your not doing hd that much. just grab a slick looking htpc case stick it in your audio rack under tv or whatever and let the media fly

If its good enough it becomes my Moms "new" PC. If not then it becomes my Win98 Games box.

Its funny with my old system my gf, sister's bf and my Mom were all after it. In the end my Mom won the bidding and she now has a near new 2.8Ghz P4, which happily runs at 3.6Ghz.

Some of that stuff is still worth a bit. I usually sell my older hardware to friends and then the forums or ebay if they aren't interested.

I tend to give my old stuff away to people that need it, I just gave my 5900XT away to a work buddy, I would have felt guilty selling that onto anyone to tell you the truth ;)

Other parts like cpus, motherboards I usually keep as spare parts, mainly for use with trouble shooting if my current pc has any problems, but if anyone I know needs something I will usaully just give it away.

my old nforce2 mobo, 9800 pro, 9700 pro, and athlon xp 2500+ all sit in their boxes in my room. in case something goes wrong, theyre the failsafe.

i should sell it all....

If its really old or broken, I shoot it, and smash it.. If its not old and works, then I sell it.

Build a spare PC, Give it away, Sell it for cheap or just throw it in a box I keep in my closet with old/broken parts...
