Did anyone else see this crap? I was looking at Fileplanet just now and saw something about being a playable demo of the first Unreal Engine 3.0 game to be out as far as I know.

So I clicked on the page to download it, only to see that a P4 w/HT processor is REQUIRED and the demo won't even run on an AMD CPU.

WTF is that?!

Oh...sorry about the double thread.

But still...I'd love to see UE3 in action. :(

I was pretty pissed, too. I tried pulling it apart in InstallShield 11.5 to change that requirement, but couldn't find it anywhere.

Apparently even those with P4's have to try installing it a few times to get it to take. Bastards.

From screenies, it doesnt appear to be using alot of the potential of the engine..

The demo is a INTEL thing only I believe. I think Intel it trying to do something cause AMD is killing them on performance.

1. RoboBlitz Demo - Playable demo of RoboBlitz, an Unreal Engine 3.0 game developed for Intel CPUs supporting Hyper-Threading Technology.

2. Quake 4 Retail BETA Patch v1.0.5 - This update is recommended for Windows users with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) enabled processors, multiple processors, or systems with a dual core processor.

3. Call of Duty 2 Retail 1.01 Patch - This Call of Duty 2 update (for US/UK English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, and Russian language versions) is recommended for Windows 2000/XP users with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) enabled processors, multiple processors, or systems with a dual core processor.

well point 2&3 applies to any Dual core CPU aswell, so its not really Intel specific..
But this was a Intel Dual Core demo, so they prolly didnt want people to compare performance to AMD X2 cpus..

In those screenies i posted in the other thread I was only getting around 9fps with 1024x768 noAA noAf so i think the minimum specs for any unreal3 engine based game is going to be at least a 6800gs/gt

WHAT?!?

That's insane. It looked like **** AND ran like ****. Did Unreal start borrowing from the Call Of Duty 2 engine?

Oh, its true. It's damn true.

But I don't judge the developers. They are just like you and me, Klye.

They had a massive project looming over thier heads. They put it off until the last moment. What came out is really impressive considering they did it overnight, but they didn't get that "A" that they were hoping for.

At least that's what I'm choosing to believe. (xmasgrin)
