I have a Dell Dimension 4300S PC which currently includes an ATI Rage 128 Pro Ultra GL AGP graphic card. According to the Dell specs this card sits in a 4x/2x, 1.5v AGP slot and I have verified that in fact it does.

I want to change this card to something that will allow me to run the current array of PC games such as Halo and FEAR. I purchased an ATI X700 card but although it fit into the slot it was too large at the connector bracket end and the height would not allow me to close the computer cover.

Can you help by suggesting a replacement card.

Thanks,
rfp

Is your machine a tower or desktop?

It looks like this is what he has.....

If that is in fact the case, you have very limited options. I am going to ASSUME that the X700 was too tall. If the X700 was too tall, you are looking at 5200/6200 Geforce or Radeon 7000/9200 series cards. Sadly, neither of those series cards will play Halo or FEAR at more than 640x480 with decent frame rates. If you are seriously considering upgrading your video card to a $150-200 video card, you may want to first drop $30-45 on a standard or even Micro-ATX case.

its a slimline.. just google pic it. it needs half height cards.

You know what I would do? Ghetto rig it.. ;)

Simply not close it.... and cover the gaps with cardboard and duct tape.

or perhaps cut into the case to make it fit, and then seal it with plastic or carboard.

;)

Not sure if Dell uses a standard mounting points on its MB's though

I dunno any other vid card thats half height.

You may need a more power psu too.. may or may not.. I'm not sure if the slimlines use standard psu pinouts.. I know the standard case dells use stanadard pinouts lately.
