just installed them and using both 81.95 and this new 82.12 driver my AQ3 scores are the same. I get 104,500 with both of them.

I noticed these contain a profile for 3DMark06 ,does anyone have an idea when we should be expecting that to be released ?

Really? Sweet :D I remember seeing some of the screenies for the next 3DMark, it looks incredible. Hopefully they bump up the default resolution for the tests to 1280x1024.

Yeah, the 81.98s have that also.

Two questions on these drivers.

One, I see everyone saying there is a proper way to install drivers. Inlcuding un-installing the old ones. Is this really nessecary every time? I've never done it and I don't have any problems with my drivers, other than the obvious problems that are already known to NVIDIA. So whats your opinion on this?

Second, I play WOW a lot and I had this problem with my old SLI system. Then when I went with one 7800 GTX I did not notice it, now I'm SLI again and I notice that when I try to alt+tab out of WOW it won't minimize all the time. Is this a problem with SLI or just WOW? I'm just curious if any one else had this problem and foun a fix, and if not at least I'm not the only one with the problem.

there doesnt seem to be to many people using these, I installed them about 1 hour ago, but have no games to test with right now.

I usually just install over the top since it always seems to work for me but that's not the recommended procedure. Nvidia's recommended procedure is here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/driver_installation_hints.html

They only listed two changes from the 81.98s and neither applies to me so I haven't felt a need to try them yet. I probably will sometime soon though.

I went from 81.95 straight to this set being that they were both available today. Going to play some CoD2 for awhile I suppose. Then maybe some FEAR after that.

I have not tested this personally, but I hear OpenGL on Dual Core / Dual CPU systems has been fixed now :) Finally :P

I was getting sick of one of my CPUs being pegged at 100% every time I launched an OpenGL based app, like Lightwave and Softimage XSI, or some of the OpenGL apps I've written (not that they're particularly useful :P). One CPU pegged at 100% effectivly kills my render performance...

Otherwise, I've not had other performance issues with any of the 80.xx drivers to date. :)

Damn! I can't run even complete a benchmark or play a game without my system restarting! Seems like my PSU though... Drivers seems to run fine. Happened with 81.95, 81.98 and now 82.12. (snowman)

i have lost performance in Quake 4.

8xAA 1280x1024 and Ultra Q. 7800GTX 512

81.98: 85,3 FPS
82.12: 79,7 FPS

Heres is a comparison (http://www.hardwareoc.at/Geforce-7800GTX-Treiber_Vergleich-6.htm)

by any chance you installed the new beta patch for quake 4? thats probably why

The beta patch added about 10fps for me. I spot checked some of the low framerate areas and got this: 43/53/53, 48/57/58, 34/45/44 (read -- before patch 81.89/after patch 81.89/after patch 81.98). Haven't tried the 82.12s yet though.

Edit: Nevermind, I was comparing non-patched versus patched and that showed at 10fps in Q4 and CoD2. But, it doesn't appear it was due to the dual-core support. Disabling a core, I still got the same 10 fps improvement.

OK, I'll calm down, but the most recent release was pretty danged awesome!

I sure hope most of you are not as addicted to updating bios's as you are you're vid drivers!

Wow. Four posts in a row yet I fail to see any useful comments pertaining to these drivers...

These drivers perform fine for me in CoD2. Hadn't really notice any differences from the 81.95 though.

Just stick to the official 81.98 will do just fine unless you own a 6800 GS AGP! No difference or rather any improvement with 82.12 lol! I would just wait for next WHQLed one! (xmassign)

I played BF2 last night as well for about 3 hours and same here, smooth as silk. It looks like NVidia really gave us a couple of good sets for Christmas!
