View Full Version : Blank screen, flashing cursor when enabling SLi

Whenever I enter the nVidia control panel, select the checkbox for enabling SLi, and then click either "ok" or "apply" my screen goes black, except for a single flashing cursor in the upper left-hand corner (sometimes referred to as the BLACK screen of death).

The only way to break out of this is to reset the PC, at which point Windows boots up in non-SLi mode.

This occurs with driver versions 81.87, 81.94, and 82.12 that I know of. At some point in the past SLi was working (havent played games in ages).

System setup:
- WinXP 32-bit patched up
- AMD 3500
- 2 x MSI 6600GT
- 2 x 17" NEC 1715 LCDs (error occurs even with one disabled)
- Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe

Well I went back in Forceware driver versions and found that this problem occurs in all of the 81.xx and 82.xx drivers. When I went back to 78.01 (last in the line of 78.xx drivers) everything worked fine.

So, basically, the 81.xx and 82.xx drivers do not work for my system in SLi mode.
