I've been using audacity latly to amp and clean up my MP3s. Well iv got a song that i downloaded and at the beggining(around first 20-30 seconds) of the song it has alot of crackling. Its loud and annoying. I have a soundblaster live! so my soundcard cant be the problem. Its a 128-bit/48KHz song. THe song is Awake-GodSmack by the way. Does anyone know what tool on Audacity will get rid of the crackling and popping? Is there something else i can use to get rid of it. (cheers)

Audacity does have some noise filters that could be used to clear up static. You need to "train" it on a known good part of the audio so it will know which stuff to clear out. I recorded a show off FM radio that had some pretty bad static throughout, but it still did a decent job of cleaning it up. I don't have it sitting in front of me, but look for something in the menus like "Remove Noise". Good luck!
