Man this card looks huge! (http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/display/20051227220826.html) Looks like it could be fake, you can't trust those chinese:p
I'm so excited for next year:jumping:
Its gonna be a killer year for hardware:D
Wow that is huge :D Reviewers and Press received the cards yesterday I believe...

I hope ATI gets their act together this time... I would love to have a CF x1900xtx rig with 4 gigs of ram:D
Well, if the early specs are any indication, the x1900 should be absolutely killer. Although, I think they are going to have major yielding issues.

This is what HKEPC (http://www.hkepc.com/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=528266)is showing...

I hope it isn't a bad thing to post pics from another site, my apologies if it is

ATi: "Hey lets **** over all the peoble that just bought a X1800XT with a even faster card"
This is getting out of hand.

meh, it happens, x1800 is still very capable. They got a good card for their money;) Technology progresses bro.
Thank BTW Sazar:lol:

yea i know that tech. progresses, but this is getting out of hand. I dont mind a new card every 6-7 months but one every 2 months is just lame.
Considering the 1800 was late and this is likely on time, there is no real issue here.

I'm confused. What is so huge about this? If you follow the link where it shows the two VPUs side by side the 580 is only about 10% larger at most. The PCB itself doesn't seem much bigger than X1800.

30A -> Single card
38A -> Crossfire
What are the requeriments for GTX512 SLI ? I got a nice Enermax EG701AX with 36A in the 12V rails. I hope it will be enough for G71 in SLI.
38A on the +12v rail for XFire! Those requirements are crazy.

Yea those are crazy requirements. Maybe an external PSU for these would be useful?

It's OK,
HKEPC used to steal pics from other sites, too:lol:
48Pixelpipes?
what are the rumored specs of this card???

48Pixelpipes?
what are the rumored specs of this card???
48 Pixel Shaders, 16 Pipelines, ? Vertex Shaders.
R580 XTX
695MHZ Core
1550MHZ Memory, minimum probably 1.2ns
R580 CrossFire Edition
R580 XT
625MHZ Core
1450MHZ Memory, minimum 1.2ns, might be able to get away with 1.4ns.
R580 XL
I may just breakdown and buy one of these till nv50....man, I was so set on being against these cards, but these specs....aye..must make e-penis grow

xbitlabs said the XTX to be 650/1550 .. or am i missing something here ?
The RADEON X1900 XTX, the premium member of the family, will feature the highest clock-speeds, which are claimed to be 650MHz for the visual processing unit (VPU) and 1550MHz for memory

48 pipes? Dear God. If this is even close to true ATI just bent nVidia over porno style.

Not 48 "pipes" , but rather 48 shader processors or units (i.e. more shader ops per cycle).
which means its a 16 pipeline design , but with significant shader power over the R520 & the G70 if rumors are true.

How do you guys know it is only a 16 pipe part? What info do you have to conclude this?

Nvidia I'm sure is getting there next beast ready to roll. :)
I think I'm going to stick with a 6800ultra till fall of 06 then
make the jump to PCI-E. (cheers)
The 6800u should play everything just fine till then anyway.
The NV50 will be my next upgrade. I hear it's going to be a 32 pipe card.

logic dictates that, a 48 pixel pipeline part would be very demanding on the transistor budget of the as yet not so matured 90nm process than a 16 pixel pipeline withtriple the pixel shading power. I like ATi's idea of increasing pixel shading throughput by increasing the amount of pixel shading it can do in one pass. It's more finesse than being brutish...and to top that with a high core clock...it's going to be very fast.

By logic i guess .. a 24 pipes GPU with 48 shader units + 24 TMU's running @650/1550 would be a monster thats hardly anyone can believe in.
it can become reality but i somewhat doubt it for the time being.
EDIT : ditto MUYA! :D
