I've got a P4 Intel mobo in my old PC that is still under warranty. I saw earlier tonight however that two of the capasitors (if that is what it is called) has stared to swell up. My old PC P3 mobo also did that a couple of years ago so I'm expecting some problems ahead, the same as with my P3 mobo. The P3 mobo started to give intermittend problems with my PCI soundcard and my PCI modem. Why do those things swell up.

The caps are failing. Soon the motherboard will fail.

Why do those things swell up.

That happens because the manufacturer of the board purchased low quality capacitors.
