It finally arrived, after a week and a half waiting. (FrozenCPU had 1c shipping on ground, they are located across the country :))
My new swiftech watercooling system, and Lian Li PC65B. Here it is in all its glory:

Whoops! I didn't order enough Tygon (xmastong) Gonna have to get some more...

And the front switches ;)

I also got this case badge for the girly :D

One of the first things I did was gut the USB/1394 connectors. Since I do not use them, they just end up being extra wires, so I rip them out. Whats left? Well, a hole, but at least it has a little door to cover it (cheers)

I then ripped out the internal PC Speaker, removed the fan filter, and replaced the 120mm intake with a blue LED coolermaster.
I also then replaced the exhaust fan with a silver plated blue LED fan...

I also wanted to drill a 120mm blowhole on the top of the case, replacing the standard 80mm grill that comes stock...

This is where snag #1 appears. Appararantly, I have forgotten that the 1KW PC Power and Cooling PSU is almost double the length of the standard powersupply. As you can see, 9.1 inches brings it half way across the 80mm blowhole that has already been cut... oh noes!

So, the only thing I can think of as of now is to drill the blowhole a little closer to the front of the case, however, a fan grill with half a PSU underneath it looks a little retarded IMO. Maybe I can cover it with a sticker?

I'm not sure yet but I will figure something out.... until next time...

Wow... you're going to push all your components, watercooling, and a 1kW supply into that tiny Lian Li? :) I still wonder how I fit less than that in an Antec P180. Good luck. Remember to integrate the WC heat exchange with your house's heating needs.

Wherez the expansion room for future ASUS 7800GTX 512 quadSLI setup? :kar:

I knew that sticker would come in handy(xmasgrin)

12-29-05, 10:19 PM
Good stuff jAk ! i dig both stickers :D

12-29-05, 10:44 PM
Yea, the SLI sticker looks very nice at the top. I say you leave it like that.

However, if you move the top exhaust would it conflict with your drives? I'm sure you can just leave the top bay empty though.

PS: I just installed the 650w CoolMax and everything is good so far. :)

Dude you should have gotten this case, I know some of you might say it's a sucky case. But I've read some good reviews, just one problem the price. Ohh well, tax returns coming soon. I know what late Christmas present I'm buying my self is going to be. Let me know if you've seen this case jAKUp, I just wan't another nerds opinion who already owns sweet hardware. :)

By the way the price of that case, with the water cooler: $449 (xmasgrin)

I have actually played around with that case and its very nice :) I wish it had a see through side though.. It's also extremely heavy :)

I'm trying to fit a swiftech apex kit into an Antec P150 with 2 GTX cards in SLi as well as a hot DC Opteron at 2.7ghz. Small cases are a challenge.. I'll definitely be using the external mounting kit heh.

I have a Lian Li V2100 sitting around unused. I love the space but I hate the hard drive mounting system and the inverted motherboard won't work well with the Asus Heatpipe :(.

12-30-05, 12:41 AM
Hey jAkUp how do you afford this stuff lol

Anyway ill just take your old computer ;) since mine got owned in Call of Duty 2 :(

12-30-05, 01:09 AM
what tubing size you using? and what w/cing stuff you pick up from swiftech? (blocks/pumps/etc)
i have an older lian li case that is similar to your case so wondering what stuff you picked up for yours

12-30-05, 01:15 AM
Nice, jakUp.
Here's the side panel for PC65B w/side window (http://www.frozencpu.com/cpa-19.html) :)
That's strange though that yours doesn't have a window. The PC-65 and 65B are both pictured with a side window and it's listed as a feature on their site.

12-30-05, 01:30 AM
Mine does have a window :) I was talking about the Tai Chi not having a window...

as for a watercooling kit, I have the Swiftech Apogee kit. Basically its the Apogee waterblock, with a 120mm swiftech radiator, and a pump/resovior combined that fits in the 5 1/4 drive bay :D No GTX blocks for now.... as for chipset, I don't think any will fit...

The tubing size is 3/8th... I could of gone 1/2's but I think it would look too crowded in this case. I really hate the tubing that comes stock with the Swiftech, so I have some 3/8th Tygon that I am using instead.

I have a motto, the heavier the better or something like that. No me, I don't care about windows. Don't know why, just never been a big thing for me. Plus I like the fact that it's got a place for all the water cooling parts, I've thought about water cooling often but I don't like to mod my cases. I'm good with computers and all, but not very steady with saws and stuff. (xmasgrin)

I'm probably going to get the Tai Chi though, it's nice. As for the guy asking you were you get all your money, I know were I get mine. It's called not having a llife besides computers, although jAKUp I don't know how you do it with a GF. :) I had a friend tell me once with all the electronics I have and my car, a GF would just be the icing on the cake to push me off a cliff. (xmasgrin)

Maybe I can cover it with a sticker?

I F*up my Amd sticker when I pasted it on the frontside. Do suppliers get extra stickers from the manufacturers.

Hole is cut :D Came out very clean, but the hole saw is freaking expensive. Cost me nearly $40 just to use it once.

Now I have to wait until next week for the rest of my stuff to come :(

12-31-05, 12:07 AM
Oh jeeze, i wish i was as cool as jakup was! :D

12-31-05, 01:55 AM
Wow that's a nice clean cut hole, I wouldn't have the ball's to do that

12-31-05, 11:27 AM
Nice cut jAk... now you ARE planning on putting your optical drives in the lower bays right? Cuz i think that hole might cause some problems otherwise ;)

I just got the Gigabyte 3D Aurora case with 2x120 fans in the back, fits the Swiftech Apex kit nicely, a little tight but all in all it is good, plus the fastest fan in my computer is 1300rpm

12-31-05, 12:37 PM
Its 120MM though :D

And yea, the optical is gonna have to skip a slot :) But thats ok, I have something to put in the upmost that will work :D

12-31-05, 01:29 PM
just curious you mounting the fan inside or outside the top of the case?
