The clock speed and temperatures of my 7800GT

Happy new year everybody
I have an albatron 7800GT. The core temperature according to the drivers was around 42C, even after playing 2 hours of HL2.
However recently the temperature has started rising to over 60C. Just not it scored 69C. The default threash hold is set at 115C. Is this behavior normal?
Also I have installed riva tuner and it says that the core clock speed is set at 275 MHz. WHAT? I thought that GeForce 7800GT was supposed to run at 400MHz. Is it normal as well?
Can anybody give me a clue?

With regards to the core clock speed, the 7800GT runs at 275mhz in 2D and 400mhz in 3D. So Rivatuner is bang on. You can also download NVtweak and enable coolbits and this will allow you to overclock in the CP. It will even try to auto set the overclock but this is not always reliable.

With regards to the temp's my card idles at 35 to 37 and after a long gaming session 47 to 49. Even your temps should be OK as my sensor is also set at 115.

Mine has standard HSF but you could always change it if your'e worried.

Yeah, even 70C isn't too bad, you're fine with your temps. D/L NVtweak like said before, and open it up and at the bottom check the box that says Enable All. This will allow you to OC in the Nvidia Control Panel, and also you can set your card to clock at the 3D speeds automatically.

275 MHz is OK for 2D apps. After all I have a 17" CRT monitor.
I'll see into oc as soon as I add some extra fans to the tower.
