Considering that a lot of places still have the 74GB one at $200+, this is pretty good. Relatively speaking, of course.

$135 after rebate.

No way am I spending $350 on this new drive. I'll wait until it comes down in price. It looks nice though, no doubt.

It also has a 16MB buffer :D

How much was the 74GB raptor when it was first released? $225. So with that being considered, its not too bad, considering it has double the Buffer and double the capacity.

But just like anything else, a few months down the road, it will be drastically lower in price.

This begs the question.

If you can get two 74GB raptors and put them in RAID0, and pay less $ than you would for a single 150, which is the better deal?

Hmmm... interesting idea... I would like to see this drive pitted against 2x74GB raptors...

But if going by the Anandtech review, I wouldn't expect much from 2x74GB raptors... sometimes it was slower!! :(

Kind of a bummer.

(2)74GB = $270 after rebates vs. (1)150GB X = $350.

I knew it was going to be expensive but not well over 3 bills. That is somewhat disappointing to me.

Could someone move CES to December so Santa would have something to bring us? 30" Dell's and 150GB Raptors?

I'm surprised they didn't push some marketting dough over to Johnathan to call the enthusiast drive the "Raptor Fatal1ty". I guess "X" charges less - only $50 a drive.

And quit your price whining. If you'll pay $500+ for your GTX 512's and $200+ for you XFi's... $300 for a super drive is a no brainer entry price.

Is anyone actually going to buy the "X" clear panel version? Except for completely transparent cases (which might still have drives stacked on top of each other), how would you show off this window? Now if they had actually put a spinning LED in it, then we'd be all over the "front of case cave opening with mirrors shooting out the spinning LED" mod.

I'm buying the server version, $50 cheaper and double the MTU. There's no reason to get the "Raptor X". Especially with a window at the bottom, WTF.

When you can get two 74GB drives and put them in RAID0, pay $75 less, then yeah we can whine about the price. Now if I had dual GTX512's and a 4800+X2 then you can cry about my comments on the price.

The HD cage in some Lian Li's is sideways, meaning you will get a full view of the top of the drive. Perfect for my new case :D I am getting the see-through one.

I run my windows and linux on a single raptor and all my games on the other raptor. I don't raid them. Performance is awsome aswell and no need to worry about constant game installing and uninstalling causing windows to get fragmented.

Still working on it, ground shipping from across the country is killing me though :( Have to wait till Friday for the rest of the goods.

I also noticed most of the price competitive water cooling kit and part stores are in the Northeast USA... I realize it's nice that they aren't charging tax, but wouldn't a non-tax-charging WC vendor in Arizona make even more sense. They could have mottos like "Watercooling the Desert since 1995" and, more importantly, they could ground ship faster and without taxes. (xmastong)

Good luck on your build jAkUp.

Yea I know, the middle of the country seems like a better location for a primarly online business.

Performance PC's and FrozenCPU are both located on the east coast... makes it difficult for us West Coast guys ;)

Does us East Coast guys justice since West Coast guys get most of the cool events.

Thats why living in the Mid-West is great. I get stuff so quick, except when it comes from California. :D

Yeah, I gotta get me one of those. I was going to get two raptors and raid it, but I think we will just be getting one of those. Looks sweet, don't know if I should get the X version. Windows pretty pointless, but it still looks cool.

Looks like end of January, early February is going to be Christmas all over again for me. :D Gonna pick up the Thermal Take Tai Chi, 1,000 watt PC Power & Cooling PSU (Just read a review very solid power), and 150GB Raptor. One question, been thinking about getting an X-Fi. Is it worth it? Especially if you use Windows XP 64 bit.

I think I'll wait until it gets down to the $250-265 range. So maybe this summer for me. For once I'm going to be patient. lol

I didn't say every place, I said a lot. Check pricegrabber next time the Raptor comes up. You'll see.

Did a search on pricegrabber for "WD740" and the majority of the places selling it want less than $200.

You are right that there are a few (insane) establishments wanting $200+ for it though.
