nvtweak will allow you to do many more optinosi n your ForceWare Nvidia Control Panel such as overclocking.

coolbits and rivatuner are good as well

So what are the best settings to tweak?

Probably the best thing you can do is to use coolbits or rivatuner and try to overclock the card. Beyond that, you can look at sites like Tweakguide.com that covers how to tweak particular games.

Use advanced settings in driver. Turn off all optimizations, turn on high quality. Turn on atleast multi sample AA and if possible gamma corrected AA. Also turn on trilinear mip maps and clamp the negative LOD.

Apart from that, nVtweak will unlock the gpu overclocking page, use detect optimal settings. Back down core and mem freq by 5 Mhz on detect optimal settings. Hit apply and apply on startup. And you are set :D.

My favorite tweak since I got mine:

TURN EVERYTHING WAY THE HELL UP!!!!!!!

With my old hardware: XP-M @ 2.2GHz, 512MB, FX5900XT, I was at 800x600, medium/low and the I though HL2 was fun.

With my new rig: 3700+ @ 2.6, 2GB, 7800GT, I'm running at 1280x1024 with everything maxed, and I'm replaying the game and enjoying even more than the first time.

Have you tryed "oc'ing" your monitor mess around with the nvidia timing and resoloutions I used to run my old monitor which was a 1024x768 at 1152x864 with no problems. just make sure you try upping the rez not the refresh
