If this is true it's great new for AGP guys.
350 core sounds about right for an AGP card. I bet it will OC like mad though.

My mobo has both slots so my next upgrade will be PCI-E and my mobo
will also run AMD's Next Gen cpu. :D

Sounds correct. The PCI-E GS will be clocked higher like
they did with the 6800GS cards.

I am waiting to see if it is worth upgrading from my current 6800 Ultra or not. I wouldn't mind a decent boost until I put my new PC together towards the end of 2006.

Thats nice! With some OC it could replace my 6800 Ultra in my Intel Rig.

Do you think it will seriously outperform my new 6800 GT OC AGP running at 370 MHz? Cuz I just bought the thing LAST WEEK thinking Nvidia will never release a 7 series AGP card!!!!

I'd like to know who is making these decisions at Nvidia, because there is a huge market that they could have tapped if they released the 7800 AGP alot earlier, now that its months after the chips initial release alot of people have upgraded.:thumbdwn:

Is this going to be a 20 pipeline part?

Who in their right mind is gonna buy my intel cpu? Have you thought about that! ;)
I'll stretch my system as far as i can, then sell it for peanuts and do a fresh upgrade.

Dude, my XFX 6800GT with stock cooling is running at 400MHZ core and 1.18GHZ memory. I'm sure the 7800GS could do even better, and probably with more pipes as well.

I currently have a socket 940 FX-53 and registered memory. I am looking for an upgrade from my 6800 Ultra to hold me over until I can build a brand new PC at the end of the year. Getting a faster video card would hold me over nicely until then.

Is this going to be a 20 pipeline part?

When Anandtech tested the PCI-E "prototype" part, it was a 16 pipeline job.

Interesting turn of events.... as long as they waited im almost surprised they are releasing a 7800 in AGP form. I think it would be safe to say if this is 100% correct it will probably be the last big release for AGP. Even as tempting as it may seem... im still just gonna keep saving and eventually go PCI-E. I hate investing in a tech that is being phased out.

I hear you on that. I've been getting stuf with old tech
the past 3 years now. Dang kids hurt my pocket bad. :(

My 6800u AGP is going to have to last me 12+ more months.

In all honesty... I dont think that will be a problem (or at least by the time you upgrade you will have not suffered long). The 6800GT and Ultra are still powerhouses IMO. I still have yet to have a game be unplayable on the highest settings. Of course... I dont buy every new card that comes out either. I just save up big and buy the best of everything at once and then wait another 2 years to do it again :p

I agree. The 6800GT up still does a great job.
The way card prices have went up I'm lucky to be able to
buy the one under the fastest.
400 bucks is pretty much my limit for 1 video card.
But I do try and upgrade ever 18 to 24 months at most. :)
I just cannot see paying more than 400 for any one computer part.

Apparently there will be two versions of the 7800GS agp.

Any word on the price? And with the PC in my rig would this be a good upgrade?
