Optical media drives are hard to find. The only other ones I know of are plextor's px-716sa 16x dvd writer and MSI's combo drive (and it uses molex over a sata power connection). This is a new drive from plextor. Pretty much the same as the px-716sa but it has slightly better DL writing.

Those dual layer discs are starting to get cheaper as well. I remember when they were $10 per disc, now they are going down to the $2 per disc range (still expensive IMO, but not nearly as bad as before.)

that's only because blu-ray and other similar stuff is on the way out.
