Just wondering. Now that they're 64bit and are moving to socket 939 will dual core be the next step?

I doubt it. Adding another core would not be very cost effective. Since Sempron is targeted towards value, its likely that they would keep the Sempron's single core even if it only cost another $20 to add another one.

For now anyways. A year or so from now, who knows?

Yep... Looking at AMD latest roadmap shows single core
stuff at least till 07.
Dual core stuff is meant for those willing to pay for it.
Those who buy Semprons are on a tight budget.

If you're looking for a dual core Socket 754, there is one coming but not a sempron its a turion! It will run in all mobo's that are willing to support it;)

Well, I've heard rumors that a dual core celeron may be on the way. that would leave AMD in a bit of a bind wouldn't it?

Considering that the single core sempron is likely going to to destroy it, I'd say no.
