Hi

I am planing to build a HTPC (AMD XP-M 2800 @ 1800 underclocked) with TheaterTek,FFshow,Powerstrip and the MSI NX6200AX-TD128LF - AGP.
NO GAMES
But looking at the Purevideo support page (http://www.nvidia.com/page/purevideo_support.html) I am confused whether the 6200A (NV44A) will support ALL the features with SD Content (852x480).

6500 - NV44 partly (no Inverse Telecine/Bad Edit Corr.)
6200A - NV44A ???
integrated
6150 - NV44 full support
6100 - NV44 partly (no nverse Telecine/Bad Edit Corr./Scaling)

also do the 6200 (crippled NV43) with HSI and onboard Memory (AGP) support ALL the features?

I hope there is someone that can answers this or has first hand experience.

THANKS

I noticed you are planning on using ffdshow, if you use ffdshow you won't get any decoding done by the graphics card. You would need to disable ffdshow on all the codecs that purevideo supports to use purevideo.

Thanks for the advice

I am aware of that. This is the reason i use TheaterTek as it lets you define your premiere and secondary PostProcessing further I was not planing to run it with DXVA.

I starting to doubt whether it is really such a good idea to use nVidia just because of the hype the put out on PureVideo.
In the end if the 6200A does not support ALL PureVideo features I might as well be better of with a ATI card but I am still hoping that the card will come through as I have always used nVidia cards.

anyway thank for your reply, still hoping to get the right answer

I have a 6600 GT and a 6200, both AGP. MPEG-2 and WMV HD decoding does work at 720p on the 6200. The 6200 is on a slow 1.6 GHz Pentium 4 ( yeah I know they're crap ) and it does offload the decoding for MPEG-2 HD streams and actually makes them playable on this machine, though WMP needs to have its priority adjusted to high to eliminate the occasional jerk as this is a very busy and slow machine ( doing triple duty as a Skype, PVR and internet gateway ). It basically works upto 720p (1280x720) on the 6200. The WMV HD playback ( on both cards has audio sync issues, with all drivers which supported WMV HD on these cards, the last of which was 78.05 ). nVidia have claimed that VC1 (WMV) will be hardware accelerated ( again on AGP 6600s and 6200s ) ( they're always been accelerated on all PCI-E 6200s, 6600s, 6800 and all 7 series cards since 67.03 beta) with the release 85 forceware drivers.

Also I suspect the 6200s will support H264 upto 720p. I think they will because the 6150 mobo will support it at 720p and that's basically a 6200.

Hi

Thanks for the prompt reply

Could you tell me which card (HSI and NV43-V or NV44A) exactly are you using and whether it also supports the more advanced features of PureVideo (Inverse Telecine/Bad Edit Corr.) as those are the only ones worth while. I am not planing to watch WMV HD (just DVD) as my projector (IF 4805)does not support higher resolutions (852x480 - pixel mapped). I am further disillusioned by the posts (1 (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=49567&highlight=NV44A) 2 (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=49671&highlight=NV44A)) I have read about these cards(NV44A) and there feeble support by nVidia

THANKS and keep up the good work
