well i dont know how many hockey fans are on this board but did anyone catch the retirement of mark messier. im a big hockey and new york rangers fan and man watching this brought tears to my eyes. it was just a truly moving night for myself and my family. mark is not just an incredible athlete hes an incredible person.

Sidenote: Did you read what Mark Cuban said about athletes and being role models in Playboy last month?
He said: "I dont believe that athletes should be role models, they have a tough enough time already."
Could he be more off the mark....

the Moose was a great player, but his glory years were in Edmonton, where he won 5 cups with the Oilers. i wonder when his hometown team will retire his number?
ya, you know i was wondering if edmonton would retire his number. i do have to say that i think the NHL as a whole should retire his number. i think he has done just as much as wayne gretzky has. maybe not as good around player, but he brought alot of positive attention to the sport that not ever gretzky has.
