View Full Version : Changing Case and PSU
I have an HP computer and with a new nvidia card; I need to change my PSU. As well, I need to change the case for better cooling as HP's one 80mm fan just doesn't cut it. I'm just wondering, if my HP M7160N (http://reviews.cnet.com/HP_Media_Center_PC_m7160n_Photosmart_PC/4507-3118_7-31492344.html?tag=sub) with a 9.5"x9.5" (asus P5LP-LE) mobo will fit into this case (http://xoxide.com/x-purity-case-lcd.html) or this case (http://xoxide.com/nzxt-nemesis-elite-case-black.html). As well, will a Coolmax CX-550 PSU (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=719600) fit into either of the new cases or even the original HP case?
Thankyou for all your help...I know I had lots of questions but I'm new to this :thumbdwn:

Yup they all follow the standard ATX or BTX form factors so the PSU should fit in without any problems. Same for the motherboard, good luck!
wow, thx for such a quick reply!!! I hope it does work.
Off topic: Which case should I get?; I love the look of the nemesis but the price for the X-Purity is just so tempting

They're both reasonably well built cases. Between those two, I think the Nemesis would be better because there are 3 120mm fans that would move a lot of air. If you could, I would suggest spending a little more money for something of higher quality (much easier to work with when the edges are smooth and you can't cut yourself). My friend had the Nemesis in white and it was a pain in the ass to work with. Something like one of the following:
Again, most of the good quality cases by Lian Li, Antec, Silverstone, Coolermaster etc. don't have the "flair" that you get with low quality makers but its really your choice.

Out of those two choices, i'd go with the X-Purity.
The Nemesis is just too gaudy...
Thanks for the suggestions and quick replys again keith, I will keep them in mind; but I'm kind of really on a budget :(; I want it to be under 100 canadian; which is about 85 bucks american INCLUDING the shipping :). Without limiting you guys then, whats a decent case for a budget user like me:p ...I love the purity just because at that cost; it even comes with detailed LCD readings of temperature and fans.

Ohhhh you're Canadian lol. Well then,
- It's $2 over your budget but a really solid case. As Roliath well knows ;).
And between the two in your original post, yeah I think the purity would be more than sufficient.
Hehe, whats wrong with being Canadian :D
Oooo; the Lanboy. I checked that one out too but I switched to the X-Purity just cuz of its lovely lcd...hah. But it's not a 'bad' case right?
The 7-1 card reader that came with my HP computer; where do I install that into the new cases?
