Hello everybody
I've been using Red Hat 7.0 with my GeForce 2 MX on an Athlon 900 without any problems for months.
Then, lately, I switched to Mandrake 9.0, and I discovered that when I boot up and log into Gnome 2.0 the PC freezes completely (even CTRL-ALT-CANC doesn't work anymore) during the Gnome splash screen (I don't even get to see the desktop with all the icons)
KDE 3 seems to work flawlessy (albeit a bit slower than KDE 2, but I guess that could be because I've got only 128 M ram).
I installed the nVidia drivers at the end of September, so I think they are not the latest version.
I've seen the pages on nVidia's site have changed quite a bit, and now you have to select which kind of Linux you have: IA32, IA64 and AMD64 and this confuses me a bit (hey! I know I've got an AMD! It's the "64" part that's confusing)
I guess I should install the Linux AMD64 drivers, am I correct?
Isn't there any "nvchooser.sh" script available anymore?
Then, what else should I do to correctly install and configure my system?
Please be kind! My Linux system administrator skills don't go beyond a ".\configure - make - make install" thing and editing the X86Config-4 file to add "nvidia" :)
I tried adding the "Option NoRasterAccel" line already as someone suggested me but I think he has the latest drivers, so it didn'k change a thing.
Thank you very much!!
