Steve Angelly has posted a review of the XFX GeForce 6800 GS XXX Edition, which is overclocked out-of-the-box.

Game performance is tested in F.E.A.R., Battlefield 2, Chronicles of Riddick, Far Cry, and Doom 3 with an Athlon 64 3700+ processor.

Steve also attempts to match the XFX card up with a reference GeForce 6800 GS to form an SLI configuration.

Was he successful? Find out here:

2x 512mb = 1GB :P for a bit I was having flash backs of getting mechwarrior to run with 4mb of ram in dos. Also 2MB to 2GB edit.

Good review, I purchased this card the day it was posted on newegg well not the xxx ver. Well i like it so much i might replace my 6600gt as its feels like its at least twice as fast.

I have updated since the review to 2x1GB Patriot ram (just updated my sig. :D ). For the review I used 2x512MB, 2-2-2-5. My new Patriot sticks are 2-3-2-5, 1T, and I do get a slight performance boost in BF2. I change ram all the time, right now I guess I'm stuck on Patriot. I am a hardware addict, also changed to 2 HDDs in a Raid 0 array since the review.

Glad you are happy with the GS, I think it is a worthy upgrade from the 6600GT.

...and thanks for the comments!

Does the DVI port on the AGP version support a 1920 by 1200 resolution? The EVGA GS AGP card says it only supports 1600 by 1200- I have an agp board on a dell 2405 and I want to upgrade it. Thanks.:)

It should, the PCI-e version does. The agp version lists up to 2048x1536 but since I don't have one I cannot say for sure that it supports 1920x1200. It is listed in the override refresh rates in the Nvidia driver control panel.

Even though I mentioned this in a PM already, just wanted to chime in here also and say nice review Steve.

The 1.4 ns memory at 1300 MHz is nice and apparently clocks up to 1400. I was able to get the XFX up to 1250 from 1100 with stock cooling...maybe 1300 with improved cooling but that would be stretching it.

The quoted price is nice too. :)

Have you ever owned a Palit card?

Thanks Chris for the info!

Seems I read or heard Palit bought the rights to the Gainward name, distribution, or maybe outright.
