Hi, I was wondering, is this Terratec card any better or worse than the X-Mystique?

http://www.bluegears.com/xmystique.html

I'm currently looking for a SoundStorm replacement for my new Neo2 board but I couldn't find any reviews of the Terratec card.

The reason I'm considering the Terratec is that the HDA/Bluegears offering doesn't exactly shine in some of the reviews (CPU usage- and sound quality-wise), plus it's almost imposible to get it in this part of the world (Slovakia). I could get the Terratec for 30 Euro less too from a local retailer...

Any advice would help.

I was under the understanding that the two cards are more or less the same. Much like the different brands of a nVidia card such as a 6800GT. So go for the local cheaper version. in your case the Terratec. Turtle Beach also has a DDL card. My gf has one and its working extremely well.

looks cheap and nasty to me, I'd check out the turtle beach if I were you. or pickup a cheap Audigy 2.

The TB DDL isn't available here in the UK (or rather, I've yet to find it). Even the Mystique is tough to track down.

I'd go with the Terratec. Forget what Superfly said. Trerratec are anything but cheap and nasty. They have had some really nice cards, I believe their DMX series cards beat out Creative's Live series in terms of quality back in the day.

Cool, but the thing is this Terratec is a brand new model so there's no reviews or user comments for it yet. No way for me to know how it compares to the X-Mystique either, which is quite a solid card itself from what I've been hearing... Decisions, decisions :/

You may want to wait a bit:

Those cards have the DTS equivalent of Dolby Digital Live. A lot of people claim that DTS is of much higher quality, I don't know personally though.

It also has the Neo:6 encoding, which if works as it sounds, will be a hell of a lot better than anything creative offers in terms of stereo to surround upmixing.

Yes, I've seen those two upcoming beauties as well, and I think I can definately wait some more:D

I am pretty excited about both the new cards. The X-Raider adds front I/O port capability. I think it will be the better solution for the gamer, despite the lower quality analog outputs. It will be nice to have front ports to use for LAN parties.

I am done with analog honestly. I don't even pay attention to the DAC specs on soundcards these days.
