just got a new xfx 8800 gtx and i'm scoring a low score in 3dmark 2006 (around 6500) .. i was asking .. could anybody tell me is this normal considering i'm running windows vista ultimate 32 bit with these specs:

intel pentium D 3.0 Ghz with 2mb cash
xfx GeForce 8800GTX
asus p5wd2 primium 955x mobo
2GB of bus 667 ram
hec zephyr 650w psu
lots of hard discs but all of them is WD 7200 rpm
Sound on board

You have a good GPU. The bottleneck may be the CPU. You may want to overclock your system for better performance. According to this article it should overclock pretty good. BTW what PSU do you have?

My latest results in a 70usd P35 mobo, well with rebate :p

I just installed it and it's a default run with a single GTX @ 659|2040 and the Q6600 G-0 @ 3.7Ghz. I'll likely improve it once I tweak.

I got the E because it was so cheap and I wanted to toy with a P35 until I switch to X38 and Penryn down the line. So far, I like it a lot. If Penryn and X38 don't beat what I have now well, I may just keep my setup as is.

My score is about five times better than my original, lol.

Sice 3DMark only emphasizes on GPU and CPU, my RAM timings wouldn't matter, right?

Nice. Might have to pick up a quad this year.

Last night I scored 8817 on my setup

e6600@3.2Ghz
8800 Ultra @ 702/1113
P5k deluxe

I was pretty upset, almost threw the ultra out the window.

I woke up this morning and realized why my scores are so low.

My ultra is in the bottom PCI-e slot :) so 8x only

This gives me hope :) My goal is 15,500 with a Q6600 and my Ultra. Watercooled of course.

With an Ultra you should get it. The latest ones are landing around 690-720. I've seen 16k with an Ultra and I think he had a Q6600 @ 3.9:

I'll be water cooling my system by mid October myself.

Blacklash 3.7 nice oc

Thanks and it's fairly average for a Q6600 G-0. Most are landing between 3.6-3.8GHz, with a few doing 4.0GHz or greater:

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=2410961&postcount=2

When I move to water cooling I will be trying for 4.0GHz myself and of course I may be limited to mid 3.8 or 3.9. I can boot 4.0GHz on air and do Pi runs and of course that is nothing like quad Prime. We will see.

BTW I love this 70usd mobo. My i975x BX2 was holding me down to 3.5GHz. Glad I ditched it. If you want an easy OC with your Q6600 try a mid ranged P35 mobo. You can get a RAID capable board for as low as 129usd, and if you don't care about RAID much less.

If you are after performance at any price you may want to wait and see how the X-38 motherboards overclock.

I can't seem to break 20k for some reason in 05 (and yet I see people who score 11k-12k getting 20k in 05marks, I'm confused). All on air.

New 3dsmark06 score is in the sig.

My 8800gtx is a bit of a stinker, highest I can get (stable) is about 920/1886.

So anyway, 13,385 for now. :)

That's better than I did with my e6400. I guess your 8800gtx is a good overclocker. I can't even hit near 2000 on the memory. :(
