i love pricing out components to see how much i can jack it up... i once was bored sitting at work so i went over to dell to see how much i can get the price of a server, well i got it to something like 35k+ ..well i didnt realize it but i was logged in to a corperate account. i hit the buy button thinking i really did buy it. i almost had a heart attack thinking i just bought a 35k server on my corperate account... for about a minute there i thought i was fired for sure. but luckly i didnt follow through on the buying process...well suficeit to say i needed to go home and chance my undies!!

With unlimited money I would get the MSI K8N Diamond Plus board (dual 16x PCI-E), FX-60, 4GB's OCZ 4800 EL Plat, PCP&C 1kw, Probably a Lian Li to fit the OCZ phase changing unit in the case, and then I'd buy that 4 GPU dell box, rip the video cards out of it and put them in the FX-60 rig. After that I'd get a 7800GTX 256 for the Dell and use it as an HTPC w/hauppage tuner and remote.

Oh c'mon, wtf is that little pussy piece of hardware;)

THIS is a real machine:

Tyan mobo, 4 socket 940 and separate ram banks for each, $1009 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813151136

Crucial 2gb memory modules, ddr400, $540 each, we're going to need 16 of these to fill the mobo:D - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146576

Newegg doesn't seem to carry any 8-series opterons, where to get 4 880's? this place has them, $1406.26 - http://www.techonweb.com/products/productdetail.aspx?id=C33068&src=FG

$1009 mobo + $8640 ram + $5625.04 procs = $15,274.04 for just the mobo, ram and processors. You do get 32gb of ram and 8 2.4ghz cores though:p

These opterons can be used in sets of 8, wonder where I can find a mobo for that...:D
