It's time to get personal as Ubisoft sends along the Rainbow Six: Lockdown demo. The 520mb demo includes a singleplayer and a multiplayer level, and also has 17 of the retail game's 42 weapons, along with all equipment and grenades.

So far I am liking it. The graphics are extremely good, the movement speed is a little on the slow side, but looks ok overall.

*Its very simplified compared to RVS but its not as terrible as I thought it would be, although I would haved liked to see some features kept.

*The speed is off IMO. Too slow when you walk and too fast when you run and you dont get tired fast enough where I think it will be used sparingly. I think it will be played more like BF2 instead of the Rainbow Six many are use to but this could have been the server I was on.

*I said it was simplied compared to RVS but other things seem to have been needlessly complicted. Too many clicks to get things done and I dont like the idea of the server list not being the first thing you see when you try to play multiplayer. The rank thing should be what you have to click to get to not the server list.

I have to play it some more once some dedicated servers pop up but the graphics are smooth/decent and my main gripe is the speed. I must admit I miss the fact it doesnt really play like RVS and feels more like the XBox version of the series.

Yes the speed sucks. Way too slow when walking, way to fast when running.

Multiplayer just doesn't feel like RVS to me.

How's the AI? That was the worst part about the console versions.

UBI needs to push this game back up these ass because its obvious they ****ted it out and tried to pass it off as a Rainbow Six game. It game stinks . The speed is retarded and so is the leaning with the whole gun. And whats up with the clones when playing online? The least they could have done was made them all look different. A BS console rip that plays like counterstrike instead of tactical like it should. They will have to pay me to buy it in its current ****ty state.:thumbdwn:

well - guess i'll be staying away then.

01-18-06, 03:13 PM
I have nothing else to do so I'll try it out.

How's the performance?

01-18-06, 03:14 PM
yea my first impressions was ok on the SP side of things, but I am not liking MP at all :( Maybe I need to give it some more time.

I cant play. :(

It wont load because d3dx9_27.dll was not found!

01-18-06, 06:56 PM
I hear no sound from weapons either mine or opponents. The other sounds sre ok. Anyonr else ?

No problems here.

I've quite enjoyed it. Playing in coop with my brother was very cool. Alot of the time I'm in no mood for to much brain work in an FPS so this was very enjoyable for me.

It's worth a download, I don't think anyone should be put off with what others say. I'm pretty sure alot of people would like this game...

Try uninstalling and reinstalling again, this time when it asked if u would like to update directx 9 choose yes....that's how it worked for me.

Graphics are pretty good and so is the performance. I have it cranked as far as it will go on AA/AF/Settings at 1280x1024 and just a few hickups here and there. I actually like the running speed. It actually seems like you are trying to RUN! Walking is way too slow though.

The enemies are way too easy to take down, and you take many more hits than you would in previous titles. It seems much more like just another shooter than it does like the classics.

Of course...I only played until the end of the parking garage, so I've might have missed something. :D

this game looks great and had huge potential, but it stinks from being involved with consoles.

AI is horrible(enemy and team)
Enemys way to easy to kill.

01-19-06, 07:57 AM
I hope theyīll release a SDK very soon after the game comes out so that some talented people can make a "realism" mod for it.

01-19-06, 08:58 AM
I must say, I didn't come across any problems with the enemy AI when I played it. Not like the AI stood out like in FEAR, but it was perfectly acceptable.

01-19-06, 11:13 AM
I thought the AI was leap years ahead of RVS

01-19-06, 11:18 AM
Yeah it is, but RVS is basically lacking any AI... Ts only know to shoot or run away...

01-19-06, 11:20 AM
should I download this chaps - I cant decide.

01-19-06, 11:27 AM
Give it a shot, you might like it.

01-19-06, 11:32 AM
Go ahead... its not like your paying for it. You might enjoy it. I already own the Xbox version, I buy all R6 games. Im a nut for them... no matter how bad they get.

Rogue Spear is still the best!

So I downloaded it as well but I have to disagree, the AI seems to be worse than in RVS. Even at the higher difficulty I was at times standing right next to a hostile and he didnīt fire and in general the AI just didnīt feel right. Who knows, maybe my CPU is too bad and the AI sucks because of that. I also hated the hostile animations, team and player animations were good but what was really annoying was the walking/running speed of the hostiles as well. When they noticed danger, they literally warped around and it just seemed weird. I know RVS hostiles moved to some degree like that as well, but not that bad. Graphics and sounds were nice though.
