Thought I'd start a thread specifically on Azureus where people here can share their tips/tweaks/tricks/etc. I'll kick things off with a few things ViN86 mentioned that I hope he'll elaborate on a bit more here. :cool:oh great choice, i love azureus. if you have your router configured correctly, you can get direct connections and it absolutely flies. also, if the tracker is down, azureus has an awesome de-centralized tracker. great program :D

I use Azureus, its an awesome program :)

I dont really know any tweaks but this tends to speed things up some times:
right click a torrent in the download list and go to "tracker" then click "update tracker". Itl probably slow down a little for a second, but with any luck itl pick up some more peers\seeders to download from.

Set your upload rate to a reasonable finite value so if you're on an asymetric line (like the majority of cable/DSL user) you don't saturate your upstream and cause TCP-ACK to get FIFO queued causing your downstream to suffer. You could always use some type of QoS to prioritize packets smaller than 64 bytes but it's significantly easier to just set a reasonable upstream/upload limit value. This way, if you're uploading it's not impacting your download.

Yeah I had my upload set too high initially, once I dropped it down and kept testing I had impressive gains in my download rate. I learned everything I know (just started using Azureus last night) from here: http://azureus.aelitis.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

AZ is great...I've been using it for a few months now, and I love it. I mostly use BT for Bootleg Concerts from Dime, but damn...it's sweet and easy. A few tweaks (much like the ones stated above) and your off to the races!
