It will be officially launched between March 9 and 15 during the Cebit. Some retailers might jump the gun and sell you a pair before the launch at a special price. I don´t think its impossible since it brought them extra profit with the GTX512, unless of course Nvidia scared them off and they won´t dare to sell them early. ;)

Can you imagine these monsters in QuadSLI? I bet even an oced FX60 on LN2 would be a huge bottleneck for them. I might make a trip to Hannover and into Hall 23 (where Nvidia will be) and make a few pictures of the launch event.
Hmmm.... I think I will pass on these:D Yeah right(nana2) (nana2)

"Nvidia scheduled its launch and world wide availability in stores for February 2006 but if all goes well it might actually launch at the same time as ATI, in the last week of January."
I've always though March too until I read this. So which is true on the release date?
Wow, that would really rain on ATI's parade. I guess we'll find out soon.

woot.... thanks for the info
the next round of upgrade is coming(nana2)
I have promised myself no more computer stuff untill post-Vista. :( And I'll probably be going with a laptop and just gaming with the 360.
Despite initial rumours, I think R580 is going to end up being somewhat competitive with these suckers.
I think a March timeframe seems more feasible based on the pretty big lack of spicy G71 rumours.
I'm putting my bets on the G71 :D

Say what u want but TI has hit right on MANY times
over the years.
I think what they were meaning is nvidia can release it now
but will most likly wait till march.
They have been wrong many more times, you cant come up with 30 different stories about one subject, then have one happen to be correct and expect to get worshiped for it.
Ok, i might forgive the Inq here: notice the article in this thread was written January 4th, and their article about a delay to March possible was Jan 7

The thing is, its a good investment... you put a crap load of money in once for the top of the line stuff, and as long as the top of the line price doesnt increase in the next generation of cards, you can sell them and not spend any extra to upgrade.
Especially with the dumb people on ebay that spend more on second hand ebay stuff than they would at a retailer or online store. A couple months back I would have been able to sell my 6800 GT on ebay for almost what I bought it for in June of '04. See, the guys that spent $750 per card on their current SLI setups STILL have $1500+ worth of stuff they can sell for the next round of cards. In fact, theres a good chance they could MAKE money off of it, and then buy faster cards for LESS money in a few months.
See, once you make the initial (huge) investment, the rest of the cards practically pay for themselves. If I wasnt so lazy (dont feel like ebaying sh!t every 3 months) id probably do it this way too.
Yea man, my cards are going for $800 a piece on ebay, I could sell these babies, and make a profit by getting the G71's :D But I can't live without them so I wont.
For me, to upgrade to the G71's won't cost me very much at all since I could sell these cards for a good amount of money.

What? You know how much your cards are gonna cost when the G71's hit the streets ? Or do you mean when you sell them NOW? ;)
I mean now... When the G71's hit I am certain I can get a decent amount of money for these as well :)

Yeah, most people just buy things, they dont research. And even more people arent up to date on things like we are here, so you can stick those cards on ebay 2 weeks after the next gen cards come out and probably still get full price for them. Hell, you can probably do that 2 months after the next gen comes out... people are dumb :p
So what's the best way to stay in the loop of knowing where to pre-order a G71 ASAP?

Though I've never actually done a pre-order, I'd venture to say that Newegg would probably be among the first to start accepting pre-orders.

I think you chances of getting a good price for them just got damaged by the X1900XT. Why spend more money on a card that is not as fast.

There have been no comparisons on final silicon between the G71 and X1900.
The best time for people looking to upgrade would be as soon as the G71 hits shelves as a lot of people are going to dump their 7800s and X1800s.
