well i wouldn't be surprised if the higher-ups @ NVIDIA hawking the forums for people they don't like (although obviously they don't do it specficially...i'm sure they hate any pro-ATI and any slander about NVIDIA...), could have MikeC ban me for any pro-ATI comments...

This is MikeC's forum, not NVIDIA's.

well i think it's fairly obvious that NVIDIA's prescence and influence over this forum is huge...can be smelled from 2 planets away...
Deleting the posts of news about the leaked nvidia Linux drivers shows enough proof of that.
But this wouldn't be the first site to jump to correct something soon as nvidia says they don't like it. It must be their lawyers are far more rabid and anti-freedom of speech than ATI's.
Maybe they are scared that they wont get anymore free nvidia review hardware...
I don't think Nvidia has much of an influence on the forums. We're a nvidia fansite so Mike and mods probably won't put up with a lot of Nvidia bashing. IMO, that's mainly b/c that makes the site less fun and tolerable for people that like Nvidia or for people that are looking for help . That doesn't mean Nvidia has anything to do with the forums though.
Edit: I'm talking about the regular forums. I don't know about the Linux forum.

Heh, but Nvidia doesn't have employees on all the forums like ATI does...ya know, providing damage control, spinning things to their liking, etc. :)

thats kinda funny. Nvidia really has no control unless it's nda material. Nvnews is a rather large community, al beit with a core fanset of us that are pro nvidia i do believe you don't know what your talking about. As 99% of us had a 9700 pro and publically stated as such back in the days of the 5800 flop. So that kinda spoke for itself. The 9700 was the BETTER card. That chipset rocked. But yeah go on believing those conspiracy theories if you want.
Well bashing of ATI and NVIDIA in general is pretty dumb anyways. Both companies are doing well, and in the end it all comes down to personal preference.

i've heard and saw first hand the power of greediness that goes on... someone on the Linux side of things got some hand-me-down review boards from the NvNews team. lots of things were said about that...i have to agree there's a lot of money to be made with the userbase of this forum... there is defintely a strong prescence of NVIDIA on these forums whether you like to believe it or not. I saw a thread i made in the FS/Trade forum magically disappear without any mods being visible... kinda weird to me.
There might be a strong nvidia presence, but not in the mod team.
Threads only disappear if a mod makes it disappear.
I can see software deleted threads and there aint any from you in the FS forum. :shrugs:

pardon my skepticism... it's just hard to believe that NVIDIA doesn't have a strong hold over the mods...
seems to me your problem is the fact that your thread in the f/s forums got deleted. maybe you should have PMed the mods or mikec directly. instead of doing that you come here to bash the site. this isnt a smart move. ive been here longer then most and i can say they usually do things to protect the site.

That's okay, You're fairly new and don't really knows the ins and outs of the forum or the people here yet. So, while your thoughts are misguided, it's an easy mistake to make.
The higher ups @ NVIDIA or anyone at NVIDIA has never said a word to me about the running of my forums. NVIDIA is unaware of what actions I take against people who break our forum rules.
BTW most of my staff has received "gifts" from me. Thunderbird is not an NVIDIA employee. He is a university student in the Netherlands and a friend of mine. :)
