I made a partition on my IDE drive, to reduce to usage of the primary XP partition, which is located on the SATA Raid drives. All of my programs worked fine, when on the SATAs, but when I relocated them on the IDE, many are not working. The IDE is both an archive and where I chose to locate my game programs. The installation of these programs appeared normal, but they are unable to locate the DVD/CD drives, or they simply refuse to initiate. Actually, out of the four programs that I have installed thus far, only one works properly. I suspect that this is either due to the fact that the IDE isn't part of the raid array, or because I chose to format it in FAT32. However, before changing things farther, I wanted to see if anyone has any ideas on how to make this work?

Just checking...

When you re-located the programs, did you uninstall them, and then go through a normal installation procedure on the new drive? Just asking, cause some of the path info that exists in the registry and other configuration files might not point to the proper place anymore if one isn't careful in this regard.

Also, as to the CD drives, have the drive letters been changed? Though some programs are forgiving on this, others I've noticed are picky about the CD being in the same exact drive letter that it was installed under. Given that I've had more then 1 CD drive on my comp since, well 1998, I've learned among my programs which one's are picky in this regard, and which one's will search through the other drives before saying "CD not found".

Yes, I did a full installation after using Fix-It to remove the previous registry entries.

This is even more screwball than the other problem, because when I insert a game CD, I get a dialog telling me to put it into the other drive, and then when I do put it in the other drive, I get another dialog telling me to put it back to where I started. No I have not changed the drive letters of the optical drives, but I did change the letter of the harddrive partition, but this was before installing anything.
