No biggie, don't worry about it. :)

In all fairness to Tyger, I think he just has the same issue many people have when talking about sports. In that they are trying to compare someone they see play everyday to someone who they may have not seen or only seen towards the end of their careers. This is why I refuse to label any one player as the best of all time. I'm not qualified to judge players from the 70's and before because I didn't see them play and watching a few highlights isn't enough to make a fair comparison to someone who saw all the time.

I saw Larry and Magic win almost all their championships (I missed Magic's first) and they revived the NBA and were head and shoulders above anyone at the time. But the best I ever saw was definetely Michael. When the coach of the two time defending champion Pistons (in the middle of his championships) comes out and says that, "this guy is so good that he's literally embarassing the league" and Mchale says that "it's like God came down and put on a basketball uniform". These are guys that played and coached against true all-time greats like Dr. J, Magic, Larry, Kareem, M. Malone at the peak of their careers. I would say their opinions should hold more water than your average fan.

Jordan was a phenomenon, from the moment he was drafted (or some may argue since he hit that shot against the Hoyas) like no other in any professional sport in the U.S. since I've been old enough to remember.
Being a life long Sonics fan, I had the fortune to see the Lakers many times in person through out the 80s. I was at the last game Kareem played in Seattle. Was pretty cool moment.

Speaking of Jordan's college years, my buddy has a poster he got from basketball camp in the 80s of a game shot. In that picture you see Jordan, Perkins and Worthy. I have offered him a lot of money for that poster but to no avail.

My basketball knowledge ends around 95. That is when I lost intrest in the NBA. As it is today I still don't watch the NBA. I think it is a joke and going to the games is like going to the circus. Just let me watch the game in peace PLEASE!

I love how people bring up the fact that jordan came into the game and was better when he started. You have to remember that kobe was an 18 year old KID when he started. Jordan was what? 21? 22? Kobe's first few years of playing he was barely on the court(as a 18 yr old kid should be). Another thing I'd like to point out is that kobe has quite a bit of defensive awards..... I wont ever say he's better than jordan defensively, but hes still pretty good.

Did you just compare Kobe to Jordan? Kobe will never be as good as Jordan was. Kobe is a great ball player and athlete but he is no Jordan.

amen, kobe will never be like mike. hahaha had to get that in there

but seriously. jordan magic and bird are the best bball players ever. anyone who says otherwise regardless of singular or annual statistics is fooling themselves. the talent pool during the eyars when jordan reigned supreme was much higher then this current generation of basketball. Thats debateable sure. but considering i got offered a bbal scholarship, i think i have a bit of knowledge in this field.

Nique had a higher vertical than Jordan. :p
Nique had the highest vertical in the nba until harold miner came along. Wilkins could rise on anyone. jordan had the longest hangtime in the nba until harold miner. Jordan could outfly and outhang anyone. This is what made jordan so dangerous as he did not need to be facing the basket upon lift off to complete his shots. He created the perfect fade-away the game has EVER seen. Not to mention he had some of the most beautiful steal to fast break transitions ever, next to the old school pistons(I. Thomas anyone?). To me the only persons that come close to jordans package are bird and magic. To this day i believe magic could rock any guard 1v1 and 2v1. Completly shatter your ankles before the term broken ankles existed.

tyger your also forgeting that the rules of the game have changed dramatically. Simple things that you could do constantly then are now considered fouls.

"Kobe takes a fall after taunting another player"

Little do you know, that the fall to the back flip was apart of the taunt. :D
hell, if it was the nfl, he would of be fined. ;)

Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain and Russell Kareem would have had a little something to say about that perhaps.

Those guys dominated and there were numerous GOOD player back then as well. It's unfortunate that those guys don't get as much love as Jordan (damn you spike lee).
