View Full Version : Burning
Recently, on a Memorex CD, I burned an archive of .zips and .exes. When I copied these back onto my sytem, some worked okay and some were corrupt. I'm preparing to burn a backup of the system and am trying to figure if the problem was in the CD, the burner (LiteON 1673) or the burning software (Nero OEM). I do not imagine that anyone has the answer on the tip of their tongue, but when trying to restore the system from a backup is not the time to find the problem, is there a way to go about figuring this problem out, other than just trial and error?
Nero has an option to verify data on disc after burn. I highly suggest you use that option when making backups. Sometimes I also verify checksums of all files with md5summer to make sure they match the originals exactly.

And try using some better media memorex are some of the worst go get some verbatim's and burn it slower
Infinity666,
I guess that's what I get for buying a name that I knew...I know Verbatim also, but I thought it was just a cheaper brand. I can't remember now what speed I burnt that disk at, but I will use the slower speed as you suggested. Thanks.

I always use the verify data function, and that is why it makes me wonder about Nero, because it never indicated any problem. I haven't gotten into the habit of checking checksums yet, but maybe I'll have to.
