View Full Version : Windows XP and VIA 4-in-1 drivers
If I install Windows XP, will I have to install the VIA 4-in-1 drivers too like in Windows 98?

If you have a KT133 don't bother getting any new 4in1s. The ones that come off the XP disk are very good

i'm pretty sure you don't have to.
VIA 4in1s might give slightly higher performance, but i wouldn't bet on it. i also wouldn't want to use VIA drivers unless i had to.

Remember the old saying: 'If ain't broke, don't fix it'. You don't need them. 4in1 drivers are just meant when you're running into trouble. If you're happy with your system, forget about them.
yeah, i tried installing via 4 in 1 on xp before, it slowed down my performance...:o
If I remember correctly, XP comes with version 4.35 of the 4in1 drivers. I have never had any problems with them. Although I gave into temptation and installed the new Hyperion drivers after reading the sales pitch on their website. I was just a little shocked to see no performance improvement at all. In fact, I didn't notice any difference at all.

I think it's the 4.32s...still great, and VIA usually adds support to newer drivers, not many speed boosts in newer versions...
