View Full Version : New AMD Athlons coming out soon - Nforce compatibility??

hiya!

I was just wondering if the Nforce2 Motherboard would be compatible with the new Athlon 64's? I'm guessing not, because I think the changes to architechure of the new chip are immense compared to Athlon XP.

I'm sure NVidia will bring out Nforce3 (eventually) but I think the NF2's are great, and it would be 'convenient' if they supported the new chips :)

nforce2 supports Barton, the next AMD cpu with 512k l2 cache.

No. I don´t think Nforce2 will be able to support Athlon64.
It´s a very different cpu.

nForce2 won't support Athlon 64. Will required totaly different motherboard. It's my understanding Abit already has a beta bios out for their nForce2 m/b to support barton cpu's. Barton cpu is going to my next cpu upgrade as long as the price's aren't out of this world.
