I was reading a thread on NV news this morning(I cant find it) and someone mentioned using Media player classic and FFDshow to watch dvds at 720p. I have spent the better part of this evening trying to figure out how to do it and have come up empty. I tried looking through the ffdshow site for answers and its friggin useless. I got zoom player to work at 720p (i think) but only with dvix and xvid files, and since I dont have the pro version I cant watch dvd's.
Can someone run me through the paces on how to get it working on Mpc? thanks in advance.

Thanks a LOT! finally got it working. I have a question though. I ran my dvd res at 1440x960 and the cpu is pretty much pegged at 100%, I tried it at 1280x720 and the colors strangely shifted... so would you happen to know what res I should try running? I have a dell 2005fpw if it helps. Im afraid my measly amd 3500 just cant cut the work it takes to run it at double the dvd res:(

You're just going to have to experiment. Using higher levels of sharpening, noise reduction, and image scaling are going to use up more CPU. You have to find a happy medium that will be different from system to system.
I have attached the settings I use with my display and system. You might give those a try. Just drop the .txt off the end. :)
