Taken from VR-Zone:

We heard that GeForce 7600 GT is 12 pipes and is now at A2 revision. There is another version called the GeForce 7600 GS which is probably 8 pipes similar to the mobile offering. GeForce Go 7600 runs at 450MHz core and 1GHz for memory so we can expect higher clocks for the desktop series. GeForce 7600 GT and GS will be launched a few days after CeBIT so we can expect Mid March timeframe.

Looks good for the mid-range. Wonder how the GT version will rate vs the current 6800GS?

Thats a long time to see the 7600, was expecting it in February but mid March.

90nm transition is a hard one I see, good for nvidia they're doing it with G7x series which is a mature architecture and a big chunck of nvidia's video card segment is still relying on the ultra successfull geforce 6 series, when nv50 enters mass production they'll have mastered 90nm process. Only AMD seemed to have made the 90nm transition easily, ofcourse the cpu schedule is not as tight as the gpu one so AMD had a lot of time.

only 12 pipelines? I was expecting half of G71, 16 pipelines.
well, it better be clocked very very high. ~700

16 pipes? When the 7800GS is already 16 at ~400Mhz? What would they clock it at? 300Mhz? And 12 pipes at 700Mhz will be much more powerful than the 7800GS, bury the 6800GS and rival the 7800GT. I think you should think over what you are saying.

point taken.
well, I was estimating 7600 in regard to 6600GT rather than 7800GS. 7800GS doesn't make long term sense in NV's line up. unless they have serious problems with yields @ 90nm. because a properly clocked 7600 with 12 can easily exceed 7800GS @ 400.
6600GT @ 500 has been a big success. they should clock 7600 competitively because it's a much better money maker than 7800GS with its much bigger die, 110nm, minus 1 quad.

Yeah but i am also hearing it may have a 128bit memory bus also clocked at around 1.4GHz

GeForce 7600 GS has 8 pipelines and 3VS and is clocked at 500MHz core and 1GHz memory while the 7600GT has 12 pipelines and 5 VS clocked at 500/1000MHz too. A preliminary testing done by 3DNews.ru revealed that a 7600GS will outperform a GeForce 6600GT by some 10-15%. We have also heard that a GeForce 7600GT will score around 4.8-5.2K on 3DMark05, similar to that of the ATi X1600XT but gaming performance should be higher.

I hope gaming performance will be higher, ati apperantly has a x1700 up its sleeve.

finaly,
last piece of my mid level rig!
now I don't know if it's gonna be faster than X1700 but it's gonna be very affordable.

i think its dumb, wont a 6800gt be equivalent, slightly overclocked it would. why havbe a 7300GS, get a 6800, unless u wanna look cool with a 7 series card

Well the 7600gt is a smaller card, has traa that the gf6 doesnt have, uses less power probably and runs cooler. Not a whole lot of advantages, but whats the point of getting an older card?

There is a large market that buys cards based on the number

Plus, 90nm=cheaper production

The 6800gt is a high-end card on an older process and is much more expensive to produce than the 7600. Based on your logic, there should be no new cards in the midrange at all - companies should only make high-end expensive-to-produce cards and then sell them dirt cheap when the next generation of high-end cards rolls around, sending margins and profits plummeting into oblivion.....

Faster memory chips & wider bus. That's what makes a card fast & expensive.

7600 GT is gonna be lovely, 500MHZ Core with 12 Pipelines, is exactly the same fillrate as the default 7800 GS with 375MHZ Core with 16 Pipelines, it will just lack the memroy bandwidth advantage the 7800 GS has. You aslo have to remember, 7600 Series is likely going to have 8 ROP's. so it has more ROP and Vertex Power due to high core speed, while it lags alot behind in memory bandwidth but that is the place where you have to go cheaper on 128Bit Memory Interface, due to a smaller die that can't allow the traces anyway.

128bit seems a bit poo though and will handicap the card.

Damn, too bad it cant be a 256-bit card.

I think the 7600 will still perform pretty well... look at the 6600 GT. It only has 128bit memory and it beat out most (if not all) of the previous cards from nvidia and ati that were 256bit. Hopefully they can sell it real cheap :)

Perhaps, but whenever you enabled aa and high resolution, the 6600GT would chocke, however, it showed good results in Futuremarks benches.

NVIDIA is about to launch its 7600 and 7900 cards. We managed to picture the slower one and picked up some hard facts about the specifications.

The card is a single-slot solution and looks very much like the 6600 GT. It comes equipped with two DVI connectors, the power connector and a single S-video out.

The core is clocked at 600MHz while the memory clicks at an astonishing 1580MHz. The RAM is branded as K4J52324QC-BC14, which should be set at 700MHz (DDR3-1400), but as this is an EVGA OC card, 780MHz (1560MHz) shouldn't be beyond reach.

It is faster than both the 6600 GT and ATI's X1600XT and will even knock spots off the 6800GT. It seems to use the 256-bit memory interface(WTF is theinq smoking?).

Here is the picture.

I don't know where they got their info from as it VERY unlikely to have nearly 1600MHz 256bit memory (same as the 7900GTX) and also it's a 6600GT PCB as such NO 256bit memory.
Which you can see clearly. 4 x 32bit = 128 not 8 x 32bit = 256bit like the 6800/7800 cards.

nV would look stupid by putting same memory on the 7600GT & 7900GTX, you are correct. :smoking:

mikechai I was just going to point out the same thing. Also the title is retarded too: faster clock than 6800GT (Well ffs I sure hope so!) ROFLMAO
