I need help with getting this sound card working in mdk 9.0, mdk installed audigy 1? driver by default but I get no sound. Creative site doesn't have drivers for this card in linux, can anyone help me get sound working?

You could try using the ALSA drivers but this would need a kernel recompiling I would think.

Well I tried the ALSA drivers but seem they do not support Audigy 2 yet. The instructions I found for only Audigy 1 on their site and fails on the 4th installation step:
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php3?company=Creative+Labs&card=Soundblaster+Audigy+Platinum&chip=Audigy&module=emu10k1
I was following the instructions this page, however when I get down to the part about modprobe snd-emu10k1;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd- seq-oss
/lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/kernel/sound/pci/emu10k1/snd-emu10k1.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
modprobe: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/kernel/sound/pci/emu10k1/snd-emu10k1.o failed
modprobe: insmod snd-emu10k1 failed

I guess you will have to wait awhile, you will have to email Creative on the driver progress.

Same problem here in Redhat 8.0 I'm afraid. :(

Got it working!
Use the driver at www.opensound.org
It's pretty straightforward to set up.:)

Well it seems the newest emu10k1 project driver has added support for Audigy2 but Im having some problems getting it running. I followed the directions from the site, all the driver steps go smoothly and tell me its been installed, but I get errors after the "/sbin/modprobe emu10k1" command.
/lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: init_module: No such device.
EDIT: NM, after I recompiled kernel I have full sound now.
