Who would tough that the company used as model for DirectX 9 "correctness" , will be cough overoptimizing in the most popular gamers benchmark. :)

Here an article of techreport..

During the preparation of my Radeon X1900 review, I discovered a problem with Radeon X1900 cards in 3DMark06. I meant to mention it in the review itself, but things came down to the wire and I just ran out of time. Here's the deal: in the "Firefly Forest" scene of 3DMark06, Radeon X1900 cards render an image that's not quite right. The problem is visible to the naked eye—that's how I spotted it. The glowing area around the two floating lights in that scene—the "fireflies," I suppose—looks almost as if the colors were dithered on the Radeon X1900. Like most dithering, this visual artifact is most obvious in motion; the area around the lights creeps, crawls, and "fizzes" as the light moves through the scene.

It looks that the Radeon 1900xt have image quality problems for using optimizations that tradeoff IQ ,that the Geforce7 or X1800 doesnt have. Its very odd that no other reviewer had noticed this. ATI have been pointed to this IQ problem ,and will have patch to fix this on their next drivers.

I don't notice it but apparently the drivers that come on the CD are a modified form of the 5.13s and the reviewers had newer drivers.

Yeah, when the benchmarks showed it beating the X1800XT by quite a bit in some games, I decided to bite the bullet and get one. I sold my X1800XT to Saturotaku and the X1900XTX came today.
