Well... it's an SBLive 5.1. And the MAD page says 24 and 32 bit output is identical. So I think it automagically uses 24.
The Live cards only support 16bit, even the Audigy1 can only output 16bit. Im hoping to get an Audigy2 early March, then I can test the difference between the 16bit on my Live and the 24bit on the Audigy2. Also as a side note, the new WinDVD Plantinum supports 24bit, you really should try it out for music cds and MP3. Im using headphones, and using headphone SRS, really makes a big difference to me for music, but DVDs really come alive, more so than Dolby Headphone ;)

I'll get out the Duo and do a real honest-to-God comparison with a decent headphone amp. ;)

I found direct sound to be useless .. at least to me. I tend to like wave out better

I tried out XMPlay and it's a nice program. Only thing I don't like about it is that you can't expand the size of the playlist like you can in Winamp 2.x and 3.x.
